A Jolex Story

Chapter 17

Jo's pov:
While we were heading towards the delivery room, I was terrified. I was scared because something could go wrong and the babies could be injured or something. I'm actually sad that the babies are coming out because I got used to having them in my tummy playing and kicking. Suddenly, Alex said something that made me more stressed.
Alex: "Hey honey. Before we go in I have to tell you something. Well, since all of the peds surgeons are in surgeries I have to take care of our babies while they are being born."
Jo: "You've got to be kidding me. And what if something goes wrong? You'll feel guilty for the rest of your life."
Alex: "Ok babe. You must know that I am the head of Peds in this hospital. This means something. Ok?"
Arizona: "Sorry guys for interrupting you but Jo you really have to push."
Jo: "Can't we just wait for a minute? I'm having a conversation with my boyfriend here."
Arizona: "Actually I can see the baby's head. We have to go in now."
We went in and Arizona ordered me to push. I kept pushing and pushing but it was very difficult. Luckily both Alex and Arizona were encouraging me.
Alex: "Go baby. I know you can push. Just take deep breaths." He said and sat behind me on the bed holding my hands and rubbing my back.
Arizona: "Oh guys. Look down! Your baby boy is here! He's so beautiful! Congratulations!"
Both Alex and I looked down and saw a baby boy. Alex's and I. By the time I saw him , I saw Alex's face on him. Little James is the most beautiful baby I've ever seen. Alex cut the umbilical cord and dressed James while Arizona was taking out the baby's placenta.
Arizona: "Ok Jo. Now it's time for your daughter to come. Are you ready?"
Alex: "Wait for me too!" He said and sat behind me again. After a long time of pushing Arizona told me that the baby was almost here.
Alex: "Push baby. Our daughter's coming. Push. I know it's hard but I believe in you. You're the strongest woman I know. I love you so much." He whispered in my ear .
Arizona: "Look down again guys. Your little girl is coming." She said and loud crying filled the room within seconds. I finally felt relieved but Alex had to take the babies immediately to the NICU. He promised me that I would see the babies a couple of hours later. After I left the delivery room, I slept for 3 hours straight. Alex's voice woke me up and he hugged me.
Alex: "Hello baby. How did you sleep? I want you to know that you are so strong and I'm so proud of you. That thing you did in there... I wouldn't imagine myself doing something so difficult and painful. I love you. And now I have a gift for you." He said and brought me a wheelchair. I sat on the chair and he drove me to the NICU. He wore his gown and he took me to the babies. The babies' bracelets said "James Karev" and "Amy Karev". I still couldn't believe that these kids were mine and Alex's.
Alex: " So. Are you ready to carry the Karev babies?"
Jo: "Of course I am." I said and he gave me James first.
Alex: "There he is. Our son. Oh hey. Why are you crying?"
Jo: "Because he's my child. I never thought I would have a baby and now there he is. He looks just like you." Then, he gave me Amy too. She was so cute.
Alex: "I think that Amy looks just like you. She's so beautiful."
Jo: "When will we take them home?"
Alex: "I think in 10 days they'll be just fine. I will go to the loft later. I have to make the babies'stuff. Oh look! Meredith's coming!"
Meredith: "Congratulations guys! Can I see those cuties?"
Jo: "Yes. Here is Amy and the baby in there is James." Cristina came in order to find Meredith.
Cristina: "Is that the baby evil spawn?" She said and pointed at James.
Alex: "Turns out he is. And here's Amy."
Cristina: "Oh. The baby hairball. Anyway, congratulations."
Meredith: "They're sooooo cute! Congratulations!!!"
Alex: "Ok. I think that we should all leave now because we all need some rest. We'll come back tomorrow. It was a big day today."
