The Lurking Wolf

They stilled at the sight of the man's burst head. Tumalsik pa ang dugo sa mga damit at pisngi nila.

"Y-You killed him," was all that came out.

"I didn't. It was an accident. Accidents happen all the time," sambit nito habang pinaglalaruan ang baril.

Kahit wala nang aatrasan ay sinubukan pa rin nila. Lumapit ang lalaki.

"I wonder what accident will happen next," sabi nito at itinutok sa kanila ang baril.

Binaril nito ang lupa sa harap nila at lumapit muli. Dinuraan ni Nano ang mukha nito pero tumawa lang ito habang paalis.

They can still smell the stench of blood of the man that was shot in front of them. It was a reminder that they could also end up like that. And death isn't an option.

Nang masigurong walang nagmamasid sa kanila ay inilabas ni Yvo mula sa kanyang palda ang baril. She got it from the man earlier when he was busy tossing them around.

They are all tired. Bruises and cuts stained their skins. Their breaths fast. Their heartbeats raced.

The plan worked.

They all glanced at the gun in Yvo's hand.

Their last hope.

They are so busy nowadays that they barely see each other.

Alli is busy with James. Jane with Van. And for some reason, Lyian is always seen with Drake, more like they always meet at battlefield. Nano has been burying himself at the database. Clio is always missing in action. Yvo is focusing on her review. And Xign is carrying his mission with Merida.

The only time they meet each other is during class and they're super busy. They all agreed to meet each other at lunch break.

"I missed you guys!" yakap ni Lyian sa kanila.

"We literally walked together," Clio rolled her eyes.

"I know, but ngayon lang ulit tayo nakumpleto," Lyian defended and gave Alli, Jane, Nano and Xign a side eye.

"Hey!" they complained.

"Don't touch me, you're so landi." Lyian brushed off Alli so Jane pulled her hair.

"We'll meet later at the hideout. No excuses." Clio glared.

"Fine." Jane answered.

"Let's end it early para makalandi na kayo," Yvo said.

"Grabe the term!" Alli complained, "But okay."

Binato naman sya ni Clio ng tinidor.

Come to think about it, ngayon na lang ulit sila nakapagkulitan. It was... nice.

All the pressure around them is trying hard to crush them. This simple moment even felt different, when in fact this is how it was just a few weeks ago.

Sumimangot si Lyian nang mamataan si Drake na pumasok ng cafeteria.

"Nakamove on ka na?" inis ni Xign.

"Pasabugin ko ulo mo, you want?"

"So hindi pa," tumango tango si Xign at nag okay sign.

"Kainis ka talagang malandi ka!" sabay bato ng bread knife.
