A Change In Heart

I run my fingers though the carpet. And all I can think of is one word, Bethany. Brianna's twin. Bethany. Bethany. Bethany.

I hear my bedroom door creak open. I don't bother looking up. I don't care whose at the door.

"Abbie?" I instantly know it's Jason.

I don't respond.

"Abbie? Abbie!" He starts getting louder and louder.

I still don't respond.

"Abbie! Abbie! Speak to me! Please!"

No response. It's like a game. A sick game that never ends, there is no winner no loser.

"Abbie, you haven't said a word to anyone in 3 weeks! Speak!" He's practically yelling at me. I shoot a glance in his direction.

Kate walks in and throws her arms around me. "Stop yelling, your making it worse" she scolded Jason.

He stormed out. I turn to her to say thank you but I have forgotten how to speak, words don't leave my mouth.

I just nod my head and she leaves.

I stand up and grab my bag from on top my bed. I was going to take it to Cal's but....

I sling it over my shoulder and climb out the window onto the roof. I look to the ground, it's only 10 feet. I slide off the roof and land on my feet. A burst of energy speeds through me and I bolt to the train station that's a mile away.

I hear footsteps crunching the leaves behind me, I crack my neck to look. It's Jason.

I barely reach the train station, I run onto the train and hope the door shut before he gets here. I see his shoes speed down the stairs. The doors start to shut.

He's 10 feet away, 9, 8, 7. The doors are halfway shut. 6, 5, 4. He reaches his hand forward to stop the doors but he's too late the doors shut with a slam and the train moves away. All I hear is his screaming slowly fading.

"Abbie! Abbie!" His voice fades away. Then we go into the tunnel.
