(Kai's POV)

"What are you doing up here?" I asked as I walked over and sat beside her.

"My family just left and I just needed some air."

"When it comes to family that's understandable."

She smiled. "What are you doing up here?"

"Needed to clear my head."

"Swimming does that?"

"You have no idea. Why not put your feet in the big pool?"

"Can't swim remember. I don't want to risk falling in. The kiddie pool is safer."

"Very true."

"You prefer deeper waters, don't you?" She asked.

"I do. Much deeper. Sometimes I sit on the bottom of the pool at the deepest point for as long as I can."

"Why?"

"It's peaceful."

"Teach me how to swim so I can do that to?"

"Just let me know when."

"I'm free on Saturdays and after work everyday."

"You mind if we do it at night?" I asked.

If we did it at night then no one would see us. No one would see me swimming.

"I don't mind at all."

I took that moment to stare at her. She really was beautiful. She wasn't wearing makeup, her hair was in a messy bun, and she wore leggings and an oversized sweatshirt.

"May I ask you something?" I asked.

"Of course. Ask me anything."

"What do you see? Is that a stupid question?"

She laughed. "Not at all. For me, it's like having your eyes closed but still being able to tell if the lights are on or if it's dark outside. That's all I can technically see."

"Another question." I said making her smile.

"We going to start playing 20 questions? If so then it's my turn."

"Fair enough. Let me hear it." I grinned.

"Favorite color?"

"Favorite color?"

"Yes. Mine is gold. When I was little I always wore a gold headband."

"Mine is like a sea green."

"Your turn."

"Do you do the whole feeling someone's face thing?"

"Some people who are blind do. It honestly doesn't do much though. I've never really done it. I've done it with my boss Henry and Marie. Henry has a small scar on his forehead and Marie has a small mole right beside her nose. It came in handy when Henry got sick and lost his voice. He walked up behind me at work and touched my shoulder. I was supposed to be the only one there so I turned to throw a punch at him. He grabbed my hand and put my finger on his scar."

I couldn't help but laugh. "Really?"

"Yeah. Ever since then, he carries a bell on his keychain when he's sick so I know it's him. My turn now."

"Favorite food? Mine is nachos."

"Pizza. If you could do anything, what would it be?"

"Hmmm. Honestly?"

"100% honestly."

"I'm not sure. Can I get back to you on that?"

"Of course. Your turn."

"What would you do if you could do anything?"

"I would....go back in the past and change a few things. Things that have really affected me today."

I expected her to ask for more information. To ask what it is that I would change.

She didn't though.

She just smiled at me.

That's how I knew that she was the kind of person who would sit and listen to you for hours without judging and without questioning.

We sat and talked for about two hours. I committed everything she said to memory.

She loves chocolate. She's allergic to seafood. She hates anything orange flavored. She loves listening to music. Any genre will do, but she mainly likes pop. She prefers winter over summer and spring. She loves snow.

The list goes on and on.

We could have talked for two more hours and I gladly would've done it. Seeing her smile and laugh.....it gave a feeling inside that I can't quite explain.

(Josephine's POV)

"We should probably go in." Kai said once we heard thunder being to rumble.

"Probably."

"Let me grab my towel and shoes." He said standing up.

We went back to our apartments in silence. Right before I went inside, he stopped me by grabbing my hand.

My breath caught in my throat when he took my hand and placed it on his jaw. His skin was smooth, soft, and warm.

"I have a scar here." He said right as I felt it.

It wasn't a very big scar, but it was there.

He then moved my hand down to his forearm where I felt a larger scar.

"I can't promise that I'll remember to get a bell when/if I'm sick." He said and I smiled.

We went our separate ways and as I laid in the bed that night, I thought about it for while. Soon, I felt like I understood him a little more. I felt like I understood why he prefers deep water.

Shallow waters are noisy; deep waters are silent.
