(Josephine's POV)

Marie's funeral was held several days later. Residents of the building, some people she played bingo with, and my family were all in attendance.

Kai hasn't left my side since we got the news. He's only gone long enough to shower and go to practice. He's been staying at my place with me and had graciously been letting Reid use his place.

Not long after the funeral, the two of them helped me clean Marie's apartment out. A few days before that, Reid and I made a trip to her lawyers office for the reading of her will.

**Flashback**

"Are you ready to go?" Reid asked.

"Yeah. I just have to get my shoes."

We arrived at the office within an hour.

"Ms. Waters?" A man said once we got there.

"That's me. This is my brother, Reid."

"Nice to meet you both. Please have a seat and we can get started."

"Okay."

"I know you're confused as to why you are here."

"I am."

"Marie named you as her beneficiary in her will."

"She what?"

"Every time I spoke with her, she talked about you. She never stopped talking about you."

"So what? I get her apartment and the things inside?" I asked.

"You don't know?"

"Know what?"

"Marie has left you everything she owns."

"Which is?"

"Which is her apartment, the things inside, the money in her bank account, and her properties."

"Properties?"

"She comes from a very wealthy family. Throughout the years, she acquired a lot their properties and never sold them. They range from houses to businesses to empty lots and other things. The money which you will receive is a little over five million dollars."

"Five million dollars?!" Reid exclaimed.

"Yes. There is a letter here that she wrote. She has instructed for no one but you to read it."

Reid took the letter and gave it to me.

"Thank you."

"I just need you to sign a few things and then you can be on your way. That sound okay?"

"Yes."

**End Flashback**

Learning that you're going to gain five million dollars is truly something that is hard to wrap your head around. I made Reid agree to keep it quiet because I didn't think it was something everyone needed to know. I told Kai of course. He had the same reaction I did. He couldn't believe it.

When we were cleaning out her apartment, I kept all her photo albums and everything like that. It didn't feel right for me to throw them away. It felt like I would be throwing her whole life away.

She liked to keep some plants out on her patio so I took those. Her clothes and things like that were donated.

It was hard the first day or so, but I'm doing okay now. I'm happy she's not in pain or suffering from cancer anymore.

"You have everything you need?" I asked.

"I do."

Today is the day he has to leave for the Olympics.

"What day are you and Reid coming?"

"The day before you start."

"Okay. Don't you forget anything."

"I won't. Now go before you're late."

"Alright." He said kissing me before heading out.

Austin was going with him and Reid and I are to join a few days later. Until then, Reid has gone back home because mom has some things for him to do.

That's good for me because I had something to do that I wanted to do alone.

"Hey, Josephine." A voice said as I walked in.

"Hey."

"You make it okay? No issues?"

"Nope."

"Good. You ready to do this?"

"I think so. You're sure about it?"

He chuckled. "I've never been more sure. Let's go get you your eyesight back."

(Kai's POV)

I boarded the plane with Austin and Coach ready to get the Olympics started.

It has been hard since losing Marie. Fi has been sad and down. Reid and I did our best to keep her mood up.

On top of all of that, I had to deal with the press. Things went around online and on TV about my loss at trials. They made comments and guesses about why I lost. They said I'd lost my talent. They'd said that I shouldn't have come back.

Of course they interviewed Carson and he had a lot to say. He claimed that he was just better than me and that I was a one hit wonder. He claimed that I would further embarrass myself by going to the Olympics and that I should stay home.

I did my best to tune it all out and ignore everything so I could focus on Fi.

It was hard, but I managed. It was only hard to do when people would come up to me on the street or at the Cafe. They'd ask for pictures or for me to say a few words. They'd ask me if any of it was tru. If I lost my talent?

Now, heading to the Olympics I was more than ready. I was ready to show them that I was still me. I still had it. Nothing and no one was going to knock me off my game.

I was coming back.

I was coming back with the motivation to do what I loved and to do at my very best.

This time, I wouldn't get second place.

I was aiming for gold. I was aiming for the top.
