Chapter Eleven

(Josephine's POV)

"I don't know about this."

"Come on."

"I don't know."

"Fi, trust me."

"I do trust you." I said.

"Then come on."

Kai stood in the center of the deep end of the pool. The spot where he could touch, but I could not. I've accomplished the puppy paddle and being underwater for short periods of time. I have even tried the deep end.

It's been four days since Kai told me what happened. Since then, I feel closer to him. He's come to the cafe almost everyday and even walked home with me on two occasions.

He also seems to be...lighter. Like a weight has been lifted from his shoulders.

"Fi, climb down in. You'll be fine."

I let out a huff as I started down the ladder.

"That's my girl. Now swim to me."

"You sound like I'm a dog." I huffed making him chuckle.

"Come on. You can do it."

I carefully and oh so slowly let go of the ladder. That when I started swimming towards him. My heart was racing and I was a little bit scared.

When I got to him, I stuck to him like a koala bear on a tree.

"You did it." He said as my arms went around his shoulders.

"And I don't want to do it again." I said.

"But you did great."

"Agree to disagree."

He placed a hand on my back as he started walking into the shallow end. When we got to where I could stand, he let me go.

"Are we done now?"

"Yes, this concludes our lessons for today."

"Thank you."

We had just gotten off the elevator and was about to turn down the hall when Kai grabbed my arm.

"What are you doing?"

"Austin is at my door." Kai said.

"So?"

"It's kind of obvious I've been in a pool."

"You have to tell him eventually."

"I know, but not now. Not this close to training. It'll give him falso hope and his big mouth will blab to my coach."

"Alright. I'll distract him and you can hide in my place."

I walked down the hallway and waited for Austin to notice me.

"Josephine. Hey."

"Hey Austin."

"How is the ankle?"

"It's good. Doesn't hurt that much anymore."

"That's good. You been in the pool?"

"Uh yeah."

"Have you seen Kai?"

"He actually went out a little bit ago. Went to get some food or something. I'm not sure. Want me to tell him you stopped by?"

"Yes please. Also tell him that I'm going to kick his ass when I see him."

"Got it."
