(Josephine's POV)

I was wiping down the counter at work when the door opened.

"Holy hell." Reid said rushing over to me.

"What?"

"Listen to this. It just popped up on my phone."

"Our breaking story earlier about Kai Nakoa possibly taking part in this years Olympic Trials seems to be true. Nakoa was spotted arriving at the athlete trials getaway yesterday. Just hours ago, we received footage from an unnamed athlete there. This footage shows Kai Nakoa and Carson Hawkins exchanging words before Nakoa tries to walk away. As he is walking away, Hawkins says something seems to upset Nakoa because, in mere seconds, Nakoa turns and punched Hawkins in the face sending him into the pool. Hawkins gets up with a bloody nose as Nakoa exits the room."

"I have to call him." I said rushing to get my phone.

"You do that and I'll help here." Reid said.

"Thanks."

Kai answered on the third ring.

"I'm sorry."

"What happened?"

"I wasn't going to react. I was going to keep walking."

"What did he say to you?"

"He has the audacity to...to...talk about Mason. I snapped."

"Are you in trouble?"

"No, my guys backed me up and said that he provoked me. He's a p*ssy anyway. He wouldn't dare press charges. He'll try to settle it in the water."

"Do I need to come save you now?"

"Nah, I'm good. I've cooled off."

"What are you doing?"

"I snuck out by everyone and I'm currently sitting in the sand facing the ocean."

"Alone time?"

"Yeah. I don't want to even think about facing coach. Or seeing any media."

"You may not get a choice about talking to them now. Coach may make you."

"I know. He's done it before."

"Promise to call if anything else happens?"

"I promise. I'll talk to you later."

"Alright. Bye."

"Bye."

I hung up the phone and shook my head.

"He okay?" Reid asked.

"Think so."

"Good. No rescuing?"

"No," I said as I turned to walk behind the counter. "Not yet anyway."

(Kai's POV)

I sat with my toes in the sand and eyes towards the ocean. I don't know how long I sat there, but it was long enough for everyone back home to see all the articles and news coverage of what happened.

The secret was out now and there was no taking it back. I went to look at my text messages from Austin when a news notification popped up on my phone. All I caught was the headline, but it was enough to make my blood boil.

Nakoa hit Hawkins out of jealousy?

"This is bullshit." I mumbled.

That's when I remembered an old friend.
