(Kai's POV)
"You sure you don't need anyone to go with you?"
"No, I got it."
"Alright. Call in if you need anything."
"I will. Thanks again."
I took off and I drew nearer to my destination, My stomach felt uneasy. I had to take several deep breaths to calm my nerves down. Once I reached where I wanted to be, I had to sit for a minute.
I walked over to the side after a while and stared out at the water. This was it. The exact location Mason drowned.
I'd forgiven myself and did everything else. Except come back to where it happened. Since that day, I've only ever swam in a pool, chlorinated water.
I was angry. So angry.
At myself.
At Mason.
At the water.
This was the place to let it all go.
I took one last deep breath before I stepped off the side of the boat and jumped into the water.
I floated there for a while as I fully let things go. I let all the pain and sadness go. I let all the anger go. I let everything that was holding me back go.
I spent the next few hours in that same spot. I spent that time reflecting on everything in my life. By the time I headed back to shore, it was getting dark.
I got to the shore to find Austin waiting for me.
"How'd you find me?" I asked.
"The man working here recognized you. Remembered you from the accident and called your parents. Small town."
"And my parents called you."
"Yes."
I shook my head.
"You been gone for days, man. We've been calling and texting you. Everyone has been worried."
"I needed some time. If I went home then all you would've been trying to console me about losing. That would've made it worse. I....I needed time alone to think things through."
"I get that. I do. But you should've at least told us where you were going. Sent a f*cking text telling us that you were okay."
I nodded. "You're right and I'm sorry."
"There's something else." He said getting a grim look on his face.
"What is it?"
"Marie is in the hospital. It doesn't look so good. Fi has been staying with her there. She refuses to go home without her."
He didn't have to say another word. I took off in a sprint toward my car. He was right behind me.
I got to the hospital quicker than I should have and quickly asked the nurse for a room number. Once I had it, I ran down the hall.
I didn't stop until I got to her room. I gave myself a second before knocking lightly.
"Come in." I heard Reid say quietly.
I opened the door and walked in. Marie was laying on the bed with machines hooked up to her. Fi was laying on the small couch asleep and Reid was sitting in a chair watching the TV on silent.
When he saw it was me, he got up and came over.
"The hell have you been? She's been calling you for ages." He whisper-yelled.
"I'm sorry. I had shit going on in my head."
"Do something like that again and I'm going to kick your ass."
"How are they?"
"Marie is doing okay. Jo-Jo is alright. This is the most she's slept in a day or two. Maybe more. She really needs to go home and shower and have a decent meal."
"I can take her." I said.
He nodded. "That'd be fine."
I carefully picked Fi up and carried her out to my car. She slept the entire time from the hospital to the apartment building. Once I got us inside her apartment, I laid her on the bed.
"I'm so sorry, Fi." I whispered, kissing her forehead before going to take a quick shower at my place.
When I got back to hers, she was still asleep so I laid down beside her and soon enough I was asleep too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Josephine's POV)I woke up and was very confused as to where I was. It wasn't until I heard Titan that I knew I was home.
"You're up." Reid said as my door opened.
"Yeah. Why'd you bring me home? I want to be with Marie in case she woke up."
"I didn't bring you here. Kai did."
I peeked up at that sentence.
"Kai did? He's here?"
"I think he's up at the pool."
I jumped off the bed and took off. I easily made my way up to the pool where I heard the familiar sound of someone swimming.
"You're an ass!" I yelled causing the splashing to stop.
"I know." He said.
"I called you and texted you. I left you voicemail after voicemail." I said as I started to cry.
"I know."
"I'm very mad at you."
"I know."
"Stop saying that!" I said stomping my foot.
I heard him pull himself from the water and walk over to me. I felt the coolness from the water on his skin as he stood inches in front of me.
"I'm so sorry, Fi."
I reached out to grab him and wrap my arms around him as more tears came. He started rubbing my back and let me cry.
"I'm so so sorry, Fi. If I would've known what was happening...."
"Just don't do it ever again. No matter what happens, you are not alone. You don't have to go through anything alone. Promise me."
"I promise, Fi. You got me and I got you." He said hugging me tight.
"We're in it together." I said as my phone rang.
I answered it and when I hung up the waterworks came fast and hard.
"What's wrong, Fi? Who was that?" Kai asked as I sobbed.
"She's g....gone."
"What?"
"M-Marie. She's....she's gone."
