Bright (Kimetsu no yaiba x Male Reader)

Prologue

You were running... running away from the things that killed your sister...

Your legs hurt but you kept running.

When suddenly-

*slash*

You fell down from the pain going through your shoulder. The thing slowly creeping up on your small form.

"Stop struggling child." Said the demon as it approached you, unaware of the rising sun behind it.

You turned around as you watched, terrified of the thing that ate your sister not minutes ago.

"I bet you taste as good as-" it was cut off as the suns rays hit its skin, making it burn.

It screamed in pain as it disintegrated, you passed out out of sheer fear.

"Dad! Dad!" Said a little boy running towards the forest.

"What is it Tanjiro?" Said a grown man with a strange mark on his forehead, you could guess they were father and son based off of their sheer resemblance.

"Who's that over there?" asked the boy known as Tanjiro.

The father, Tanjuro, looked toward where his son was pointing, his eyes widening as he saw a child, around 10, laying in the snow bleeding and unconscious.

"Tanjiro! Get your mother here immediately!" the mentioned boy, hearing the worry in his fathers voice, scurried off the other way towards his home.

Tanjuro ran and picked the boy in his arms, ripping off some off his clothes to make pressure on the wound. He was relieved when he checked and found a pulse but still worried.

He picked the boy up and ran the other way towards his house.

"What do you think happened to him?" said a middle aged woman worriedly.

"I don't know Kie, we'll see after he wakes up..." replied Tanjuro as Kie agreed with a sigh.

Your eyes flutter open as you take in your surroundings, a decent looking room with a window, door, a few shelves and a table. You were laying in a bed covered with a blanket, but as you tried to sit up, pain went through your right shoulder as you grunted and layed back down.

You heard something open as you looked towards the door, seeing a woman come in and gasp as she saw you.

"Darling, he's awake!" she called out.

Then a man came in and he looked at you with worry before he went to the side of the bed and crouched to your level.

"Hey, how are you feeling?"

"...who....Who are you...?" you asked, a bit scared.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm Tanjuro and this is my wife Kie." He said with a smile.

"What's your name?"

"(Y-...(Y/N) (L/N)..." you said, unaware of Tanjuros eyes widening a bit.

"It's nice to meet you (Y/N), but can you answer my question from before?" he asked with a kind smile.

Seeing no ill intent, you answered "I'm feeling good, my shoulder is a bit hurting.".

"You had quite a bad wound there, you need to rest for now." Said Kie with a worried look.

Your memories suddenly flashed before your eyes as you realized what happened earlier.

"Th-...Thank you for....taking care of me..." you said with a shy but sad look.

"We couldn't let you freeze and die out there, of course we'd help you." said Tanjuro, his smile never leaving his lips.

"Can you tell us what happened to you?" asked Kie concerned.

"My family got attacked by demons....my dad stood there to face them and told my sister and me to run...but as we were running away a demon caught up to us and went to grab me, but my sister jumped in front of me and let herself be taken by the demon. He devoured her right in front of me...." You said as tears were already flowing out of your eyes.

Both Kie and Tanjuro hugged you as you cried your heart out right there.

"Shh, shh, it's alright now." Kie said comforting you.

As you calmed down, Tanjuro asked you a question that surprised you, in a good way.

"Tell me (Y/N), would you want to be a part of our family?"

You were stunned to say the least. Not only did they take you in, take care of your wounds, but now they're giving you a place to stay and a second chance?

"R-Really?" you asked, tears forming in your eyes.

"Yes, Tanjiro and Nezuko would really like an older brother." Said Kie with a smile.

"I accept!" you said without hesitation. Your first family now gone, you couldn't let this chance slip away.

However you didn't know the journey waiting ahead of you...
