Chapter 11

Two weeks had passed since the Mount Natagumo incident, in that time you helped train the three teenagers while going and training yourself with Kyojuro. In that time also, you couldn't find Shinobu anywhere.

Today was raining hard, but you didn't mind. You left your sword in Tanjiro's room as you left without a word.

"What's with him?" asked Zenitsu as he approached Tanjiro.

"Today is a special day for (Y/N)-nii." he said as he looked to where you left off to.

"Oh, so that's it." they heard a voice as they turned around.

Shinobu approached them with a smile on her face as usual.

"What could be so special to (Y/N)-san so much that he even left his Nichirin blade?" she asked.

"Well, I can't really tell yo-" he was cut off as Inosuke jumped onto Zenitsu.

"Oi! Monjiro! Where's your demon brother at?! I wanna fight him!" he yelled as Zenitsu screamed at him to get off.

"H-He's doing something really important-" he was cut off again as now Shinobu spoke.

"Why don't we follow him and see, since you can't tell us?" she said as Zenitsu reluctantly agreed while Inosuke was yelling how he wanted a fight.

Tanjiro saw that he couldn't get them to not come, so he proposed a deal.

"Alright, but promise me one thing."

They listened carefully.

"Do not disturb him, do not be seen by him. It's a very important day to him today." he said as they all nodded.

You were walking through the heavy rain, without an umbrella or anything. Without a sword to protect yourself, just your clothes.

You were walking for quite some time to get there, but eventually you arrived at the hill.

At the hill stood two gravestones, you approached them and sat down on your knees.

The rain was hitting you hard, but unknown to you, there were 4 people watching you while hiding.

"What's he doing?"

"Shh!"

They whispered to eachother, while Shinobu was just staring at your back.

Their attention was brought back to you as you spoke.

"Hi, dad, (S/N), sorry I didn't come in a while." you said as your tears were washed away by the rain.

"I hope you're doing well, wherever you are, and that you're happy. I'm happy, I've met wonderful people, have a family, you could say I'm living my life great." he said as they listened to him carefully.

"But, it's not great. Every day, I try to get by, not thinking about you, but every time, every single goddamn time, my mind is on you." his voice cracked as Tanjiro could only look with a sad look on his face.

"I try my best to protect those who I love, since I couldn't do it for you guys. But again... I failed..." you were shaking in frustration and sadness.

"I couldn't protect the only family I had left... But atleast there's Tanjiro and Nezuko... You could say because of all this, I'm way too protective but, what can I do about it? They're the only happiness I've got left in this cruel world, that's why I'm trying my best for them. But still, that doesn't give me permission to do whatever I want." he said, Zenitsu was crying as Inosuke was quiet. Shinobu still staring at his back.
