(Early morning)
Mal woke up to yelling of her parents fighting. They've been fighting for a while now.
She laid in her bed for a little bit, then she had to drag herself out of her bed. She walked into the bathroom and started the shower. After she got out she walked back to her room and saw her phone blowing up with texts from the group chat she has with her three best friends.
Mal: Jeez guys I was in the shower for not that long and there's already forty texts from you three!
Evie: Sorry M :(
Carlos: Yeah sorry lol
A few minutes later Mal walked downstairs, then the kitchen was silent.
"Morning." Mal said awkwardly.
"Morning Mal." Her mom replied.
"Hey sweetheart. You ready to go back to school?" Her dad asked before taking a sip of his coffee.
"No. Why would I be?" Mal asked sounding annoyed.
"It was just a question. Sorry I asked." He responded and took his coffee and walked upstairs.
"Ugh! Whatever." Mal ignored him and poured her cereal.
"Well I don't want to be late for work. I'll see you later. Have a good day." Her mom said as she practically out of the door.
"Bye!" Mal called with a spoonful of cereal in her mouth.
A few minutes later she threw her dishes in the sink, grabbed her bag and phone, then ran out the door.
She was walking to the bus stop where her main best friend, Evie was waiting.
"Hey E." Mal greeted her.
Evie was looking at herself in a little mirror, then turned around and smiled at Mal. "Hey M."
"Carlos and Jay aren't here yet?" Mal questioned.
"Nope, but they better get here soon before the bus comes." Evie replied. "So how have you been?"
"You mean since I seen you like three weeks ago?" Mal asked.
"Yeah." Evie grinned while nodding.
"Okay, well besides having to hear my parents fighting." Mal answered.
"They're still fighting?" Evie questioned sounding disappointed.
"Yep." Mal nodded.
Then they heard yelling and turned around to see Carlos and Jay running to the bus stop. At the same time the bus was pulling up.
"Phew! We made it." Carlos shouted as he was catching his breath.
"Come on." Jay said as he pushed Carlos forward.
They all got on the bus as Mal and Evie sat together. Carlos sat behind them and Jay across from him.
Carlos and Jay were having a conversation and Mal was working on a sketch while Evie was looking at herself through the mirror again.
Then she put her mirror in her bag and turned to Mal. "Hey Mal there's something I need to talk to you about."
Mal looked over at Evie and shut her book. "Sure. What's up?"
"Okay don't tell anyone, but I kind of hung out with Ben King." Evie stated.
"You what?!" Mal shouted a little and people looked over at her. "Sorry." She said. "What do you mean?" She asked quieter.
