A Love Song

(The next week)

Ben was walking out his car and towards the school. 

"Hey Ben." A girl voice greeted him. 

He jumped, then noticed it was Evie. "Jeez."

"What?" Evie gave him a confused look.

"Sorry. I thought you were Mal." Ben told her.

"Why would it be bad if it was Mal?" Evie questioned.

"Because she won't leave me alone." Ben stated. "Pretty sure she wants to get back together, but she keeps clinging onto me. And she's still dating Harry."

"Well I mean isn't it a good thing she wants to get back with you?" Evie checked.

"Yeah it is, but I don't like her like this." Ben admitted. 

"You're lucky you didn't have to spend the whole weekend with her while her parents were gone." Evie said.

"You stayed with her?" Ben asked.

"She basically forced me to stay with her." Evie responded.

Ben laughed and Evie did too.

From a few feet away Mal and Harry were walking in together holding hands. Mal was watching Evie and Ben.

"Mal? Mal, you okay?" Harry was trying to get her attention.

"I'm sorry what?" Mal looked over at him.

"You were just kind of staring. Everything okay?" Harry told her and checked.

"Y-yeah." Mal lied nodding.

(At lunch)

Mal across from Evie at the table.

"Hey." Mal said leaning forward.

"Hi..." Evie looked at her with a weird look.

"Fine... Until my best friend started being weird." Evie answered with a chuckle.

"Yeah. Ha ha." Mal pretended to laugh. "So what were you and Ben talking about this morning?"

"Why...?" Evie asked.

"You know, just curious." Mal gave a shrug.

"Well I have you know, we were talking about..." Evie was saying.

Before she could finish Harry sat next to Mal. "Hey girls."

"Hi." Mal looked at Harry quickly, then back at Evie. 

Evie just gave Mal a look. Then Jay and Carlos sat with them. 

"Evie!" Ben called to here. 

He was standing on the other side standing with Lonnie. Evie waved to them.

Mal looked back at him, then back at Evie. "What does he want?"

"We have to talk about stuff for our band." Evie answered and started packing her stuff up.

(After school)

Evie and Mal were walking out to the parking lot after cheerleading practice. Then Ben was walking out with Carlos and Jay. 

"Hey there's the boys." Evie pointed out.

Mal looked over and saw Ben. "Yeah let's go over to them." She grabbed Evie's hand and walked over.

"Hey boys." Evie greeted them.

"Hey." Carlos replied and Jay smiled.

Ben just looked at both of them and smiled.
