The Secret Is Out

(Monday morning)

Mal opened her front door and Harry was standing there about to knock.

"Hey." Harry smiled. "Want to walk to the bus stop together?" 

"Uh... Sure." Mal awkwardly smiled back.

"So how have you been?" Harry asked as they were walking.

"Fine..." Mal glanced at him. "How about you?" 

"I've been good." Harry smiled again.

"Why do you seem so happy?" Mal questioned.

"I don't know. Maybe because I'm walking and talking with you." Harry answered and started grinning.

"Harry... You know I'm... Never mind." Mal replied. 

"You want to sit with me on the bus?" Harry offered.

"I think I'm gonna sit with Evie on the bus." Mal told him.

"Oh okay." Harry nodded and walked away

"You're hanging out with Harry now?" Evie asked as she walked up beside Mal.

"No... We were just walking together." Mal answered. 

"I saw him walk up to your front door and asked you to walk with him." Uma butted in.

"Well we live close to each other." Mal stated.

"Well we're next door neighbors, but I never ask you or you don't ask me to walk to the bus together." Uma said.

"Why do you care so much?" Mal wondered.

"I don't, but you better hope no one finds out about you two." Uma answered, then walked to the bus.

"Who would care about you and Harry?" Evie questioned.

"I don't know." Mal lied. "But let's get on the bus."

(At school)

"What happened to you this weekend?" Chad asked Ben at his locker.

"What do you mean?" Ben responded.

"I thought we were gonna hang out this weekend, but you never responded to my texts." Chad explained.

"I'm sorry dude. I was doing family stuff." Ben lied.

"Oh I see." Chad nodded believing it.

"Hey Bennyboo." Audrey said from behind Ben.

"Hey Audrey." Chad waved to Audrey.

"Chad." Audrey slightly smiled at him. "Can me and Ben talk alone?" 

"Oh yeah of course. I'll see you guys later." Chad said, then walked away.

"What do you want Audrey?" Ben shut his locker and turned to face her.

"What happened Friday night?" Audrey wondered.

"What do you mean? You kissed me." Ben asked and replied.

"I mean you pushed me away and said something about liking someone. Then you ran away." Audrey told him.

"I do like someone else." Ben said.

"Are you gonna tell me who this someone is?" Audrey asked.

"No." Ben replied and laughed a little.

"To be honest Ben I'm sorry. I think I had a little too much to drink. Can we still be friends?" Audrey was saying.

"No." Ben said and Audrey's smile fell. "We can still be best friends."

Audrey's smile came back. "Shall we walk to class?"

"Yes we shall." Ben answered.

"Mal are you okay?" Evie checked as Ben and Audrey walked by talking.

"Mhm? Oh yeah I'm good." Mal forced a smile.

(In class)

Mal walked into her second period and saw Ben and Audrey sitting together. She ignored them and just started drawing until the teacher came.

(After class)

"Hey Mal, can we talk?" Ben ran up to her.

"What do you want, Ben?" Mal asked sounding annoyed.

"I want to talk to you about Friday night." Ben told her. 

"What is there to talk about?" Mal wondered.

"What happened to me and Audrey was not on purpose. I didn't know she was gonna kiss me or I didn't want it." Ben was telling her. 

"Whatever I don't really want to talk about this right now." Mal replied, then walked away. 

(Later in the day)

"Mal! I need to talk to you." Uma ran up to her. 

"What do you want?" Mal quickly turned to face Uma.

"I know the truth about you and Harry. I saw you two together." Uma was saying. "It'd be a shame for a certain someone to find out." 

"What do you want so you won't tell?" Mal questioned.

"I want you to tell everyone the truth about you and your boyfriend, Ben." Uma told her.

"Your what?!" Evie asked yelling from behind Mal.

"Evie!" Mal quickly turned to her with a worried look.

"You and Ben are dating?!" Evie questioned still yelling.

"What's going on here?" Carlos asked as him, Jay, and Ben walked over.

"Did you two know Mal and Ben are dating?" Evie asked Jay and Carlos.

"What?" Jay asked coughing a little with a laugh.

"Mal, you told them? I thought you didn't want to yet?" Ben wondered. 

"No I didn't it was Uma." Mal answered.

"Wait so you told Uma, but you didn't tell your best friends?" Evie questioned.

"No she found out. Evie I'm really sorry." Mal told her.

"Whatever. We should get to class anyways." Evie ignored it and they all walked away including Ben leaving Mal alone.

(Later that night)

Ben was in his room, then he got a text from Mal asking him to meet her at her house. Ben made his way to her house. A few seconds later Mal came outside.

"Hey." Mal slightly smiled.

"Why did you invite me here?" Ben asked.

"I wanted to apologize. After what happened at school I realized it was dumb being mad at you for something you didn't do." Mal was explaining.

"Well I accept your apology. I just want you to know I wouldn't kiss any girl unless it's you." Ben told her making her blush. 

Mal walked up to him. "Why are you the best boyfriend?" 

"Because I have an amazing girlfriend." Ben answered as he wrapped his arms around her.

Mal looked up and kissed him. "My parents aren't home. You want to come in?" 

Ben smirked, then nodded. They walked inside. Ben sat down on the couch, then Mal sat on his lap and they started making out. 

(Later)

As they were still making out they saw the lights from Mal's parents' car flash in. 

"My parents are home!" Mal yelled and got off of Ben. "We gotta get you out of here. We can go through the back door." 

Mal grabbed Ben's hand and brought him out. 

"I'll see you tomorrow." Ben smiled and kissed Mal one last time. 

After Mal ran back inside and up to her room. She looked out her window to make sure Ben could get out without anyone seeing him. Then she looked up across the street and saw Harry looking back at her through his window.
