Saved by the stranger- ch. sixteen

Lucy's pov:
"It's that... a baby kitty?!" I run into the alleyway and Natsu follows close behind. I crouch down beside it and slowly pick it up. It was skinny and shaking in fear. "Oh my gosh, poor baby." Natsu crouched down beside me and started to pet it. "Why does it look blue? Maybe something spilled all over it." Natsu says and he began to further look at it. "What gender is it I wonder?" I say and Natsu gently takes the baby kitten from me. He flips it over. "It's a boy." He says.

Natsu hands me the kitten back and we both stand up. I am carful not to hold the kitten too close to me just in case I get dirty, but just enough to where I could comfort it. "Once we get to the phone store I'll run in and get you a phone. I'll surprise you." Natsu says and I nod. "Alright."

Once we get to one Natsu runs in real quick as I sit on a bench right outside the doors. I got a lot of weird stares from people. It was like that for a good 3 minutes until one middle aged woman comes up to me. "Lucy? Lucy Heartfilia?" I give her a weird look back and then I look away uncontrollably. "H-how do you know my name?" She grabbed one of my hands. "Did you escape from your kidnapper? Are you still in danger? Here let me call the police really quick to let them know you are alright and alive. Then you can be with your father again." My eyes widen and I pull my hand away and stand up backing away from her.

"Please don't send me back to him! I don't want to go back!" She looked at me confused for a second then gave me a weird smile. "Oh~ you must have Stockholm syndrome. Hun, please don't walk away. Your father said he loved you dearly and wanted you back." She began to walk closer to me and I kept backing away. I finally snapped from fear and anger. "STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM ME! I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK TO HIM! HE HURT ME! HE HATES ME! I'M SCARED OF HIM! HE DOESN'T CARE FOR ME!" Out of no where I saw Natsu standing in front of me with a bag in his hand. "I'm sorry miss, but I'm going to ask you to step away from her. She obviously doesn't want you near her." She clinched her teeth and then tried to grab me, but she failed because Natsu was blocking her away from me.

She finally gave up and walked away. Natsu quickly turned to me. "Are you ok Luce?" I look up to him crying. I didn't know what else to do besides put my head on his chest as I held the kitten. "My father is trying to take me back, Natsu. I'm so scared.." he put one hand on my head and sighed. "I won't let him. I promised you that, remember?" I nodded my head slightly. "Good, now stand up straight. Don't worry about him or anyone else. Let's just go home and we can eat there. When we get there you can look at your new phone." I pick my head up off his chest and smile at him. "Right!" For a second I though I saw him blushing, but I think I was wrong.

Natsu's pov:
For a split second I felt my heart skip a beat, but I don't understand as to why. I quickly ignore the feeling and it went away. "Luce, once we get home you can look at your new phone." I smile. She also smiled even wider. We began to walk back to my house in a comfortable silence. She held the kitten close to her chest, but not caring that her outfit may get dirty.

Man! I love that about her! She's so kind and sweet to people and animals. I don't get how her father could have been so cruel to her. Wait... what's this weird feeling?

Lucy tapped my shoulder and I look at her. "Ya?" She smiled and looked away. "Oh nothin! You just zoned out. I don't know how to get back to your house so I kinda need you to focus." She says jokingly. I laugh and rub the back of my head. "Oh, sorry about that."

We get back to my house in less then 30 minutes. During that time I told Lucy that I'd take her to the park tomorrow after the meetings. "Hey, Natsu? What time is it?" I take a look at my watch. "It is... 2:19" Lucy nods and I push the button for the guard to let us in. Once he sees us on the camera from the other side of the gate he opens it. We walk through and greet him.

Natsu opens the doors for me. We walk inside and Lucy is greeted by all the butlers and maids. I then saw Keely and Hadly running towards Luce. Brett was also close behind them. Both Keely and Hadly jump on her in excitement. It surprised all of us at first until we noticed Lucy laughing. "Hey everyone! Sorry, I hope I didn't worry you all too much." Lucy gave them a bright smile as Keely and Hadly stood up. "Have you two eaten yet?" Lucy and I shake our heads and out of nowhere all the maids and butlers rush to the kitchen.

"Huh..." Lucy and I say at the same time. We look at each other and laugh. I help her up and let the kitten. We see Brett just kinda standing there, obviously wanting to say something. "Hm? What's up Brett?" Lucy asked and out of nowhere he gets on his hands and knees. "Lucy! I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have done what I did!" We both look at him and surprise. Lucy rushes over to him and starts to rub his back. "No no no no no! It's alright Brett. I'm fine! Come on Brett, don't be like this. Stand up please." Brett stood up helping Lucy. He looked at me. "Aren't you going to apologize as well?" He asked and I grew a tick mark on my head. "What'd you say punk?! I already apologized to her!" He smirked at me. "Oh? You picking a fight?" Lucy slowly backed away. "Why is he acting like Gray- wait! Better question, why is this the reenactment of Natsu and Gray in Natsu's office?!"
