Saved by the stranger- ch. seventeen

Lucy's pov:
After Natsu's and Brett's "little" brawl, Keely and I were stuck bandaging them up. "You guys are almost as reckless as when Natsu fights Gray! Like geez!" Keely states and I giggle. That's when a thought popped into my mind. "Oh speaking of Gray, I just remembered that they obviously told you about me, but what is weird is that I was never told about you from them." Natsu looked at me quickly with this weird expression as I was wrapping his arm. "What did you say?" He asked and I gave him a confused look. "I said that they talked about me to you, but never the other way around. They never told me anything about you. I didn't even know that you knew them or they even knew you." Again he had an unreadable expression.

After Keely and I were done with wrapping the boys up, I picked up the Kitten and Keely took me to see Nova. Once we get to her room upstairs we walk in. "Hey Nova! Look who I brought to see you~!" Nova looked surprised. "Oh wow! You and Natsu are already back? Where did you guys- oh my gosh! Is that a kitty?!" I nod and walk over to the side of her bed.

"Yup! I was going to ask if the both of you would like to help me wash him off." Nova quickly agreed so Keely and I helped her into her bathroom. She sat down on the side of the tub. I put the kitten inside the tub and turned it on. "Why is it blue?" Nova asked and I shrugged. "I don't know, maybe it got into something?" We began to wash the kitten of and once all of the dirt was off of him, he was still blue. We all looked at each other in confusion. "Why is he still blue?" Keely and I began to try to scrub off all the blue, but Nova stopped us. "Guys look, it's not just a few patches of blue.. it's all over. Is it possible he is just.. you know.. blue?" Keely and I look at Nova then back to the kitten. "I'll be right back guys!"

I pick up the soaking wet kitty, put it in a towel and run down the stairs, but being careful not to fall. I saw Natsu and Brett walking away and into the west wing. I still held the kitten close.

Where are they going? Should I follow them?

Without realizing it I started to follow them quietly. They got to that same door as before and opened it. I was hiding behind a corner and saw Brett look back to see if anyone was looking. I quickly moved my head before he saw me. I hear the door close and let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I move from behind the corner and slowly walk to the door. Once I stood in front of it again I felt that same dread from before.

This time I wasted no time in putting my hand on the door knob. I quietly turned it as I heard clicking noises again. I open the door and it creaks a little. I was frozen in fear when I saw Natsu and Brett looking back at me while halfway down some stoned staircase. "Lucy? What are you doing?" Natsu asks, but I was petrified. I thought he was going to hit me, beat me even like my father used to. "I-I.. I'm sorry!" I slammed the door shut and ran.

I ran straight for the Library. I heard distant yells of my name. It was Natsu and Brett yelling for me to slow down or stop, but I didn't listen. I just kept running. I held on to the kitten tightly as I opened the doors to the Library. I ran inside and went straight for that little hiding place in the back. Once I get to it I crouch down, getting on my knees and had one hand on the floor as the other held the kitten close. Once I get inside and put my back against the wall. I pant in fear and shortness of breath.

I then heard Natsu and Brett yelling my name from inside the library now.

Natsu's pov:
We followed Lucy all the way to the library, but we lost site of her. "LUCY?!" I yell, but there was no answer. "LUCY! Where are you?!" Brett yells, but it's the same for him, no response. "Why do you think she ran? It's not like we had blood on us yet or anything like that." Brett whispers. Of course I knew why. "She thought she was going to get in trouble like with her father. She thought we were probably going to beat her." Brett looked at me in shock. "But we'd never do that to her!" He raised his voice a bit and I nod. "Yes, I know, but we also gave off a bad impression to her earlier today." Brett looked down as if just remembering.

"It's ok though, let's just find her and make something up. I don't want her in my mess. I don't want her to know about the mafia. It's for her own safety. If she found out that me and our friends were in the Fairy Tail mafia.. well shit.. she'd hate us forever. Let alone finding out that I should be in charge of it." Brett nods and looks at me. "Do you think Zeref is taking care of it well?" I shrug and look straight ahead with a smirk. "Don't know, I haven't contacted him in a while. I should look into doing that, but for now let's find Luce." He nods again and we split up to find her.

Brett went upstairs as I searched downstairs. This is a pretty big library so this may take a bit. "Lucy? Please come out! We aren't going to hurt you! I promise you and I give you my word! We aren't like your father!" I got no response from her, but I heard a quiet meow and that's my lead.
