I woke up this morning and got ready for school eagerly. Trust me, 95% of the time, I dread school and can't wait to graduate. It's the same thing everyday, wake up, go to my classes, come home, do homework, sleep and repeat. But today was different. Today, I felt it was going to be epic.

It felt like it was the beginning of one hell of a long story. I have a plan to find out what Hope is. It may take a while, but I'm determined. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do after I find out, though.

I mean if she is supernatural, why on earth isn't she at the Salvatore school? Why Mystic Falls High School? I refuse to believe a supernatural being would come here, out of all the places in the world, and not know about the Salvatore School.

I walked downstairs and threw on my leather jacket and headed to school. When I arrived Maya walked up to me. She's a good friend of mine, well, only friend really.

"Ready for the big game today?" Maya threw her arm over my shoulder.

"Oh my god, I totally forgot about it. I'm so sorry Maya, I'll remember next year!" I looked at her sincerely. I tried my best to make it sound as believable as possible.

Truth is, I hated going up against the Salvatore school every year. It just felt awkward to me. I knew what they were and that if they wanted to, they could easily win the game with a little magic on their side. But every year Alaric made them loose, in order to keep their secret, well, a secret.

"Nice try Stef, you had that excuse last year. I already got your uniform packed and ready to go" she smirks at me.

I sigh. "Wow, thank you so much. What would I ever do without you." I rolled my eyes, sarcasm dripping from each word I spoke.

"Probably die" maya shrugged and we both laughed.

"Hey guys." Hope said. I jumped a bit when she came out of no where.

"Uh, hi" I said softly. I avoided making full eye contact with her. She probably realized cause she scrunched her eyebrows, looking confused.

"Hey Hope-" Maya looked at the both of us and put an arm around each of us, "This years game is gonna be awesome, I can feel it in my bones" Maya smiled and looked at us both.

"You two have met already?" I questioned, gesturing to the both of them.

"Yea, caught her having boy troubles in the bathroom the other day, had to help a girl out" Maya said.

"Yea" Hope said, almost in a whisper.

I just nodded in response. Boy troubles? Who could she be having boy troubles with? This is gonna be a long day.

"So Hope," I sigh and look over at her  "ready for your first game? It's a tradition, Mystic Falls High Vs. the Salvatore School" I say with enthusiasm dripping through my voice. "Have you heard of the Salvatore School?"

I look at Hope, carefully observing her facial expressions when I bring up the school. Waiting for some sort of sign. When I asked her the question, she opened her mouth like she didn't know what to say.

"It's for preppy rich kids, don't worry, it's not worth learning about" Maya looks over at Hope and laughs. Hope smiles and is relieved that Maya spoke before she had to.

"What is really important is that we keep our winning streak, not for nothing, their team sucks. We win every year and this year is even more important to me. Some scouts from a college my brother, Ethan, has been dreaming of going to are coming to watch him. I really want it to go well for him." Maya smiles.

Maya has always had a close relationship with her brother. I don't have any siblings myself, but I know that that bond is unlike any other. My dad talks about Uncle Stefan all the time. No matter what rough patches they went through with one another, in the end, they fought for each other no matter what. My father was ready to die for his brother, and Uncle Stefan died for my father. Sometimes I wished I had a sibling, so I could have that special connection with someone.
