Chapter 44: Undercover Spy

Sawyer's mind was all over the place, she didn't want to be mad at Bellamy. She knew who he was on the inside, Bellamy cared and protected everyone. If Bellamy believed this war with the grounders was the only way then maybe she should believe him

She was in a weird space with Bellamy. She wasn't even sure where they stood at this point

Sawyer sighed making Miller look at her confused. "You good?" Miller asks, Sawyer ignored the question and watched as Harper continued to fidget with the radio channels. They were in a new hiding spot, the dead end with Kane's secret panel. It was where they were now hiding the radio

"Hey" Kane says pushing past the tarp "Anyone followed?" he asked. Everyone shook their head no and Miller asked "What about you?" Kane shook his head

"No. No. I'm good. Any word from Octavia?" Kane asks looking to Harper. Last time the girl was seen was when Sawyer was riding away from the grounder village

"Been scanning different channels all morning. Nothing. I mean, either she's out of range-" Harper answered, Miller cut her off "Or Pike already got her" he said rocking back and forth anxiously on his feet

"Or she ran her battery down" Kane says trying to have hope "Or she needed the radio silence to run the blockade. There are a lot of reasons why she might have gone dark" Miller shook his head in disagreement at Kane's words

"I've been out there patrolling for the last three months. I know this area better than any Grounder. Just let me go out-" Miller begged only to be cut off by Harper saying "Guys, listen to this"

She disconnected the headphone wire from the radio and Pike's voice was heard

"Results of this morning's missions inventory was sobering. In no way do we currently have the ammo for an extended series of firefights, not even close"

"So what's plan B?" Sawyer stood up from the wall as she heard Bellamy's voice

"Our lookouts say the largest Grounder encampment is in this valley, so we deploy an assault team in Rover One, and we do as much damage as we can with automatic weapons"

Sawyer's held her breath as she listened to the conversation. "And they'll just fall back and make a run for reinforcements"

"I'm counting on that. The only way there and back is over this ridge. Now, we can bottleneck their warriors and pick them off" Sawyer gulped as Pike shared the plan "We got the firepower for that?" Bellamy asked

"We won't need it. We have a dozen concussive antipersonnel devices in our armory. I've already got a weapons man rigging them with a remote trigger" Sawyer gasps and covers her mouth. Miller started rocking again

"We load the APD's into the rover and mine the field before we attack. After we strike, we lure their reinforcements onto the ridge, and once we have enough Grounders in the killing box-" Bellamy finished Pike's sentence by saying "We detonate. But who do you have that can handle explosives better than Sawyer?"

Sawyer's face fell in horror, everyone looked to her at the sound of her name being brought up

"Sawyer's your girl, you get her on board" Pike said. "Fine, let's say I can get her to do it. It'll buy us some time but-" Pike cut Bellamy off "Time's what we need. We move at dawn" Pike demanded

Sawyer held her forehead trying to process everything. "Holy shit" she mumbled

"All right. We need to disable that rover. If they take it out, it doesn't matter how many Grounders they kill. Ten times that number will descend on Arkadia, and no one'll survive" Kane says
