The structure of your day changed a little from then on.
Peter still came around; he usually arrived when Uncle Tommy was leaving for work. But there was no more huddling around the laptop or machinery in the basement, Laurie was intent on building a small army out of you all.
The plan had been formulated two days ago, and tomorrow night would be go time. It was rather simple; go to the address you and Peter had uncovered in the Bronx, armed with whatever you could find, use the element of surprise to your advantage, give the guy a good beating, call the police while he was on the floor and leave him there for them to find.
Or at least, the plan sounded simple.
In reality, you were very nervous. This was the same guy who had shot Uncle Tommy without a second thought, and you were a bunch of kids armed with Laurie's butterfly knife and baseball bats going to try and bring him to justice. It was times like these you were glad you had asked Peter to be part of this operation.
Because without him, you wouldn't know how to punch.
"Don't tuck your thumb." Peter said, unfolding your hand and re-curling it without your thumb inside. "You'll break it if you punch around it."
"Right." You said.
"And if you don't feel like you can muster up a good swing, use your elbows and knees." He continued. "They always hurt more than a bad punch, and they're good for close combat."
"Where'd you learn all that?" Laurie asked. She was standing a few feet away, twirling her knife around her fingers while she snapped a selfie with her other hand. Standing calmly there, just spinning her knife around like a pro... she did look intimidating.
Peter startled. "Uh, well..."
"Takewando." Lee chimed in. "He takes lessons. He's always missing Academic Decathlon for them."
Peter's eyes narrowed.
"Oh, do you?" Laurie asked. "I wouldn't have pinned you as the type but hey." She shrugged.
Peter glanced at you. "Y/N and I are going to the yard to practice."
"Oh, okay." Laurie said, mildly confused. "It's a little wet out, but-"
Peter all but dragged you outside, and as soon as the door shut, he rounded on you. You had never seen him like this - not mad, exactly, but looking like he could get there fast if this turned south.
"How does he know?" He asked. "I thought you said you weren't going to tell anyone!"
"I didnt tell him I swear-" You started.
"Then how does he know?" Peter asked again. "Takewando... where did that come from? why was he so quick to jump in when I couldn't think of something? He knows!"
"He knows." You admitted. "But I didn't tell him."
"Then how?" Peter asked again.
It started to drizzle, the light spray soaking into your hair and clothes.
"That night you came to the window, he was carrying Laurie up to bed and he saw you leave." You said. "I told him that it was a secret, and I swear he hasn't told her."
Peter sighed, squeezing his eyes shut. "I knew I shouldn't have come that night. I could have just written it down at home."
You could see how upset he was. Understandably too.
"Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I think Lee's pretty trustworthy." You said. "He doesn't seem like the type to rat you out. I mean, he's not one for talking much anyway."
