Prompt: Kou realizes he might care about his best friend a bit more than he thought.

Hello everyone, my name is Kou Minamoto.
I am the second son of a family of exorcists, I went against several evil apparitions and yet, it seems I can't solve a simple problem of mine.

I, Kou Minamoto, have a crush on my best friend, (Y/n) (L/n).
And to make things worse, she thinks I like Yashiro, another friend of ours.
To be honest, there was a time when it was true, but it's just something lost in my memories now.

"Kou, are you sure you're okay? You've been spacing out a lot today. And would you stop looking at everything but me? I'm starting to think you don't want me to be here."

"NO! I mean- yes, of course I want you here with me, why wouldn't I?"

He can feel himself becoming redder and redder, his cheeks getting warm just thinking about what he just said and his eyes desperately avoiding her gaze.
He knows he wouldn't be able to last a second by doing otherwise, she's just too cute and the effect she has on him is worrisome.

He can't help but mutter an excuse and leave, he's afraid that if he stays here he'll just make things worse.

(Y/n) frowns as she looks at her best friend running away from her for the millionth time this week.
Has she done something wrong? She can't recall so.
Determined to find the reason why he's being doing that she starts searching for him. She can just hope for the best now.

He pants as he looks around, trying to understand where he is.
He feels guilty for leaving (Y/n) like that, but with the way things have been going, he would have probably melted from embarrassment after a minute or so.

He hates it. He hates how he can't help but look at her during class, and get mesmerized by her beauty.
He's always known she's pretty, but up until now it never bothered him.
Now he gets flustered by the simplest actions. Wherever it's her smile, or her laugh, or even just a stupid joke she says, he can't help but smile stupidly.

"Kou!" he turns around, and before he can say anything, all he can see is a mop of (h/c) hair.

"(Y-y/n)? What are you doing?" he manages to stammer, his heart beating so fast and his whole body tensing.

It's not supposed to go like that. IHe wants to forget those feelings, to have his normal friendship with his best friend back.

And yet,

He can't help but hugging her a little tighter, his chin resting on the top of her head.

"I should be saying that! Why are you so weird? Did something happen with Yashiro-senpai?"

He grits his teeth. No, it's not about Yashiro, not anymore. It's about the one person who's always been by his side, supporting his choices, wherever good or bad. It's about the person in front of him, (Y/n).
Why can't she understand it's been about her for months now?

"No, it's not."

She puts some distance between them, gripping his shoulerds with her hands tightly, her eyes staring directly into his.
"Then what is it?"

He gulps, his hands getting sweaty from the nervousness and his face getting warm again. He wants to look away, the intensity of the moment making him quiver in anxiety.

Damn it (Y/n).

He doesn't want to say it, and yet,  he finds himself unable to stop the words coming out of his mouth, spilling everything he's been trying to hide from her.

"It's you (Y/n)! You're the one I like and it's so stressful! I know you don't like me back, and I don't want to ruin our friendship so I wanted to ignore those feelings and let them fade away with time, but with you, being the amazing person you, it has become extremely difficult and now the only thing I want is to tell you about it."

He knows he's rambling, and he wants to stop, but before he can act on it, she's already beaten him to it.
She's propped on her toes, one hand on his shoulder and the other on his left cheek, her lips kissing him on the right one.

"I never said I didn't like you Kou."
She says, once she put some distance between them.
He's speechless, and all he can think about is leaning in and kissing her again, this time on the lips.
It's just a little peck, but the moment the opens his eyes again he's greeted by her surprised face, tinted in a lovely shade of red.

"(Y/n)."

"Yes?"

"Be my girlfriend."

so... I know, most of the oneshots I published are either tog or tbhk- and the reason is, I had this book in my drafts for many months now and so I just wrote about whatever anime I was watching!!
also, while I tried writing for other series, I find myself much more inspired with tower of god, so I decided that unless someone specifically asks for another anime/I get inspired, I'll mostly write for tof as of now
I just don't think it'll do my writing any good to force myself to write for other anime/manga.
so yeah, after this one I have a howl pendragon x reader that's coming sometime soon, and then I'll probably focus on tower of God (also I have like, 3 unfinished drafts and so many other ideas omg I hate myself sometimes wiwha)
