Chapter 5.20 - White - The Inevitable Battle

One week have gone by after the pledging ceremony. Within the span of a single week, Blanc had fortified the walls of the empire while Shiro had introduced a brand new materials for the market to use. The two new Lords made quick work under Empress Yumiko's banner. While the two lords were busy handling their part, I've done pretty much nothing significant aside from training myself and my eagle, Zee new tricks. Other than that, I've told Yumiko everything that I've been through since the beginning of this whole ordeal.

"Isn't it almost time, Lord White?" Yumiko interrupts my training.

I stopped training abruptly, "Time for what?" I placed a sword that I was holding into its scabbard.

"Time for the next battle of course." She walked around the training room.

"Are you talking about Nova Crystalist? We could have the advantage of attacking them if we do it last week, you know?"

"That's not the main issue here Cyclone White. I'm not a warmonger."

"But you always seize every opportunity." I told her.

She then sighed and moved on, "Anyway, I'm actually here because of something more important. It is concerning the Chaos Champion we're looking for.

"That quick, huh?"

"You'll be surprised by how information moves around this world, Lord White."

"So what do you have?" I sat on a chair.

Yumiko then explained, "From the information that has been gathered, there has been eyewitness of a guy wearing in deep purple outfit not far outside of FF Base. It's out of my territory by the way."

"Deep purple...any other clues?"

"He also has that weird eye insignia thing that most Chaos Champions have. Funnily enough, the insignia this time is on his eyepatch. I guess he lost an eye or something."

Then I asked her, "So, what was he doing all this time?"

"My men said that he's been starting to create monsters into this world. You know, the ones that always exist in a fantasy setting."

"Like our world, as well?"

"Kinda, but at the same time he has also been slaying them. It's very counter intuitive if you ask me."

"Indeed." I wondered. "Do you got a name?"

"One of the monsters that could talk mentioned 'Master Memento' before the monster was slain. Maybe that's his name."

I got up and checked my weapon rack, "Chaos Champion Memento. Sounds about right considering what he did to everyone's memory."

"Before you can get ready though..." Yumiko stopped me, "There is another unfortunate news for us."

"What is it?" I asked.

Yumiko claimed, "The Kingdom of Spectrum seem to have begun demanding The Government of Goblin's territory. Some of the Queen's men had voluntarily begun harassing the Minister's people. Which, resulted in a fight."

"And after that?"

"The people of The Goblin Government have begun riling up to their minister while the Queens men are getting impatient. The Queen was getting impatient of waiting the Minister's surrender which has caused her men restless. Now both side of our 'ally' has a civil war of their own."

"And what does this entail to us in this empire?"

Yumiko shrugged and said, "They demanded for reinforcement from us."

After thinking for a moment, I told her, "We can't simply send reinforcement considering what you have been building up between the two territory. But now a civil war on both sides? If we send reinforcement on any side, the other side will report of our betrayal."

"I know...That's why I have a preposition, White." she leaned on one of the pillars there.

"What is it?" I asked.

She explained herself, "I did told you that I'm not a warmonger. But you also told me that I should have been seizing every opportunity I get. Just like how I used to. I've been wondering..." She looked at me and suggested, "How about we seize Nova Crystalist now?"

I smiled and told her, "There's the empress that I know.Although its a bit late on seizing a huge advantage. We still have an edge against Nova Crystalist as of now considering our first victory against them last week."

"Yes. And by fighting them, I have an excuse not to send reinforcement for either Queen Sam or Minister Jarde."

"Two birds, one stone." I said.

"Actually..." I clarified, "It's 'three' birds, one stone. We can also get Memento as he's nearby the battlefield."

"I see..." Then I paused and realized, "Hold on just a sec..."

"What's wrong Lord White?"

I was curious of something, "The simultaneous civil war...could it be that it was your doing?"

She simply smiled and said, "Who knows?" and left the training room. "I'll see you at the walls, Lord White."

That absolute madwoman. She played her cards very strategically. She never forgotten her roots. She has always been seizing opportunity. I should have known better that she has layers of plan beneath her composure. The defend on FF Base, The two fake alliance, as well as the arrival of the memory blocking clouds. She had it all in her head. That magnificent bitch. She's way ahead of me...And it all finally comes together in this next battle...
