Alec's POV

I gasped. How did Magnus know who I was? I was born 160 years in the future. Unless......
"You didn't!" I yelled at him. "You promised you wouldn't!"
"I'm sorry Alexander. It's just, when you disappeared out if my life, I had nothing to live for. I had to do it."
Everyone was looking at our exchange strangely.
Finally, Jace asked. "Alec, what are you talking about?"

"A spell." I said flatly.
"What type of spell?" Tessa asked me.
Everyone leaned in to hear my answer.
I sighed. "The spell was one to send someone's soul back in time to when they were younger."
Jace interrupted me and said. "What's so bad about that?"
"When sending the soul back in time, it becomes changed in present day. The soul slowly erodes until it ceases to exist at all."

I looked at Magnus. "Why did you do it?" I asked quietly.
He ran a hand through his perfect hair. "As I said before, when we broke up, I had nothing to live for. I decided to go back to the happier time of my life. When I was around the London institute."
"I didn't know that you were that fond of us." Will said, surprised.
Magnus gave a wry smile. "Don't push your luck, Herondale."

Izzy butted in and addressed Magnus. "If you hadn't noticed, we are stuck in the past! Is there any way that you can get us back?"
"I don't know." He replied. "How did you get here?"
Clary meekly put her hand up. "I did it with a rune I saw."
"Where did you see it?" Magnus asked her.
"In a dream." She replied.
"Can you describe it?"
"Well," Clary started, "I was in this dark room with no windows and the rune was shining on the wall. I went out to touch it, but then it disappeared."

Magnus's face went pale. "Since you're the only one I've come across with your rune power, I can't be entirely sure, but I think I know who sent you here."
