Chapter Fifteen

Clary's POV

I awake to a raging headache.
"God, my head." I groan as I sit up.
Charlotte hurries towards me.
"Oh good, you're awake. We had started to think that you would never wake up!" She exclaimed as she gently put a cold towel on my forehead.
"I long have I been out?" I ask.
"A week, dear. Would you like some soup?" Charlotte asks.
I nod and take the bowl out of her hands.
"Is Jace okay?" I ask while eating the soup.
Charlotte hesitates. "Well, sort of. Sometimes he's fine but other times he's in pain."

"Is there a way to help him?" I ask.
"We don't know."
"Can I see him?" I ask.
"Sure, dear. I'll go get him for you."
As Charlotte walks out of the room, I think back to what happened that night.
Alec's hands around my neck.
Me struggling to breathe.
Alec saying that I had to remember to meet Sebastian in the park.

I sit upright.
Charlotte had said that I have been out a week. That means that I missed the meeting with Sebastian!
I'm so dead.

Jace's POV

I pace around my bedroom, worrying about Clary and Alec.
Clary has been out for a week now, and Alec has been gone for a week.
No one knows where Alec went, or when he'll be back. If he comes back.
I shake my head. No. Alec wouldn't leave me forever. We're parabatai for goodness sake!

A knock on the door interrupts my thoughts.
"Jace," Charlotte says, "Clary has woken up and has asked to see you."
I jump up and run to the door.
"Wait." Charlotte says. "I haven't told her about Alec yet. Can you tell her?"
I nod and run to the infirmary.

Clary is sitting up in bed when I come in.
"Jace!" She cries, and I give her a big hug.
"Clare Bear, I missed you so much!" I whisper in her ear.
"I've missed you too." She says softly.

I leave the hug and sit down on here bed.
"Clary, Alec left." I say bluntly.
"What, why?" She asks, her eyes wide.
"Well, he didn't exactly leave, he more of disappeared. It was on the same night you and I blacked out."
Clary interrupts me. "Wait, you blacked out as well?"
I nod and continue. "Anyway, Isabelle was the last one to see him and said that there was something different about him. He didn't look like himself she said. It's very worrying, especially for me."

"Oh, Jace!" She leans in and gives me a hug. "It'll be alright. He can't leave you for long, after all, he is you parabatai."
Then she lifted her head and looked like a thought occurred to her.
"Jace, Isabelle wasn't the last one to see Alec. I was."

Hey guys,
Yay! I updated! Okay, I know I updated yesterday, but who cares.
How do you guys think Jace will react when Clary tells him that she was the last one to see Alec?
I know that it's not much of a cliffhanger, so to make up for it, there's going to be a surprise in the next chapter!
