I WANT TO SLEEP
Beginning
MALINAW na malinaw sa isipan ko ang nangyari noon. Summer noon at nagbabakasyon ang buong pamilya ko sa Cebu, tradisyon na iyon ng pamilya namin, ang magpunta at mamasyal sa iba’t ibang lugar tuwing summer. That was the kind of bonding that our family preferred.
I was eight-year-old that time. I was very young and still innocent of everything. I only knew playing and enjoying every minute of my life.
It was clear in my mind how I held the small hands of my twin, Ryan, we are smiling from ear to ear. We are surrounded with too many people who are enjoying the beach and bonding with their loved ones.
“Rhian and Ryan, my babies, enjoy your stay here. Sulitin n’yo na ang paglalaro dito pero huwag kayong lalayo at ‘wag ring maghihiwalay,” pagbibilin sa amin ni mommy. She even kissed both of us. “Malinaw ba ang bilin ni mommy?” She asked us once again.
Sabay kaming nakangiti na tumango ng kambal ko, “Yes mommy!” sabay na sagot namin.
“Very good, go enjoy yourselves. I’ll just prepare our food.” She told us before he went to dad who is busy talking to his phone. Still trapped with his works.
Mommy tapped his shoulders, “Roel, honey, bantayan mo ang mga bata,” she also reminded dad.
Dad nodded, “Yes honey I will, just a minute.” Sagot ng workaholic naming ama.
“Mag-behave kayong dalawa d’yan, pupunta lang ako saglit sa cottage natin.” huling bilin pa ni mommy bago tuluyang bumalik sa cottage namin.
They are very hands on to us. Wala kaming yaya o taga-bantay dahil ayaw ni mommy kahit na gusto ni dad dahil kambal nga kami at mahihirapan kung mag-isa lang si mommy. But our mom is hard-headed, kaya hindi napilit ni daddy na kumuha nang magbabantay sa amin.
“Let’s play, Rhian!” pagyaya sa akin ng kambal ko.
I smiled at him, widely, “Sure, Ryan!” he held my hand.
