"Scout for artist; Part 1.2""We've talked to Mr. Chou, we are given a quota of 50 candidates. Since this is our last day, we still have 6 candidates to fill up the quota." Mr. Chan informed the group as they dismount the white van.
Nancy took a deep cold breath and rub her arms. Winter came and unfortunate they're still outside looking for candidates. She let her eyes wander to the beauty of the small town.
"Can we go in now? It's too cold out here." She mumbled out of breath. Mr. Chan led them inside the school alumni hall. The volunteer teachers greeted them and lead them to the seats.
"I'm Principal Yu, welcome to our school." A middle-aged man greeted Mr. Chan.
"I'm David Chan, you can call me assistant Chan or simply Mr. Chan. Pleasure to make your acquaintance. We're grateful." Mr. Chan replied and shook Principal Yu's hand.
"Mr. Chan, how long will take Mr. Lee before coming here?" Lewis asked as he took his seat.
"I'm sorry for the delay, but we can start the audition without him. I'll handle it. He has an urgent matter to attend to and he'll ba taking at least 1 hour or so." He replied. Then his eyes went to Nancy. Nancy then scoffed and rolled her eyes at him. Confused, Mr. Chan took his seat and pursed his lips.
'Why is this woman so moody?'
"Sure, thank you. The young ladies out there sure are freezing too." Lewis rubbed his palm rapidly to create his own heat.
Silence took the place until a girl enter the place.
...
"Mom, can Dad make it today? The snow is heavy." Leona asked as she position herself in front of their firepit. Worries flooded her mind. Her heart clouded with desperation and worries. The auditions will be conducted today. Small town, news do travel fast. The arrival of newly seen vehicles alerted her adrenaline rush. Her heart almost stop a beat.
"I hope so, sweetheart." Mrs. Stratford replied. She decided to stay inside the house together with her children as the heavy snow approaches the town.
"You think he'll be going to have something for me?" Hopeful, Leona asked. Her hands are slightly shaken. Not of the cold, but the thought of not being able to audition. She's been practicing nonstop. She's been trying to improve more. And she's been trying to be hopeful though it seems to be hopeless.
"Surely. He's always got something for you. I'm quite jealous." Her mother laughed as she continue her embroidery.
"Where are two, Mom?"
"Probably in their rooms. Why?"
"Nothing. I felt kind of sleepy..." She yawned and rubbed her eyes.
"Why don't you-"
"That's Dad's car. That's Dad's car!" Leona rushes down the single sofa and wear her cute pink slippers.
"Dad!" She shouted from the door. The cold breeze of air come in contact to her skin making her shudder.
"Dad!" She called his father again. Her mother patted her back gently laughed at the antic.
"Hey there, Baby." Mr. Stratford kissed her wife and hugged her daughter.
"Welcome home, Honey."
"Welcome home, Dad!" She giggled and kissed him on the cheeks.
"Close the door, baby." Mrs. Stratford said and led his husband to sit down.
"How's the trip?" She asked him. Leona followed her parents and sat back down to her position.
