"Elsa!" Elsa sighed when she heard her sisters voice, beckoning her from outside the door, forcing her to let go of Honeymaren. The two separated, but still stood close together. Anna swung the door open, her hair had gotten messy after whatever she was doing. "There you are!" The ginger said, her tone fierce. Anna grabbed her sisters hand and attempted to pull her away. Elsa stood still and looked at Maren.
"I'll see you tonight, look around if you want." Maren nodded and Anna huffed, dragging Elsa out of the room.
With Elsa gone Maren decided to look around the girls room. Who knows, maybe there was something interesting. She opened the closet only to find old royal clothes. Boring dresses designed to make a girl look nice without sexualizing them. Elsa would never wear that. She likes to show off her stuff. Honeymaren blushes at the thought and had to look at the dresses to relax herself. After finding nothing of interest in Elsa's room she decided to go look for the room with all the pictures Anna had mentioned a handful of times. Lost in the abyss of the castle corridors Honeymaren began to doubt whether she'd find her way out of her. Luckily after turning around a corner near the kitchen she ran into another human. The girl was fairly short, around 5"2, and had short brown hair chopped to the top of her neck. Honeymaren guesses she was a little older than her, about 25 or 26.
"Oh hello," the girl said with surprise, almost spilling the cans of paint she was carrying.
"Oh my! Sorry!" Honeymaren said, double checking to make sure she didn't have any paint on her.
"It's okay, are you lost?"
"Is it that easy to tell?"
"A little, don't worry It took me a while to learn how to navigate castles too."
"Thanks, this is my first time here, frankly it's a little overwhelming."
"Indeed. Are you here for the wedding?"
"Yeah I am, I'm from the forest we arrived today."
"Oh yeah I saw your people arrive on all the reindeers, it was pretty incredible."
"Thanks." Honeymaren took notice of the purple gown the girl was wearing, it had small pictures of the sun similar to the ones on the banners outside. "What are you painting?" Maren asked.
"Oh well Anna, er um, the Queen, wanted a mural done in the ballroom. I painted a lot as a kid, after I painted the mural on my kingdom she asked if I would be willing to do one here. These sisters have a pretty incredible story I must say."
"That they do," Honeymaren chuckled.
"Are you close with them?" The woman asked.
"Well kind of, Elsa sort of... lives with us, in the forest. She's like my best friend."
"That's good, my parents use to worry about her a locked up in room for all those years."
"Yeah..." Honeymaren took notice again of the paint in the older girls hands, yellow, orange, pink and a dark blue. Suddenly she had an idea. "Can you help me with something?" She asked.
"Yeah sure, what is it?"
"I'll explain on the way, oh I never did get your name."
"My name is Rapunzel."
"Rapunzel... that's beautiful, I'm Honeymaren."
"Well Honeymaren, let's find a way out of here and I'll see what I can do for you."
Elsa almost dozed off in the uncomfortable velvet stool she sat on in Anna's room.
"Elsa!" Anna yelled.
"Huh, what?"
"Focus!"
"Sorry, what do you need?"
"Which veil looks better?" Elsa watched as Anna held up to veils on her head. It's the girl's wedding day and she hasn't even picked a veil.
"In all honesty Anna, they look the same to me."
"Ughhhhh, Elsa!"
"Okay okay! Uh the left one."
"The right one it is!"
"Hey I said the le-" Elsa watched as Anna disappeared into the bathroom, ignoring her older sister. I want your opinion Elsa! Elsa I need help. Elsa Elsa! All Elsa wanted to do was be with Honeymaren, running around Arendelle, hand in hand showing her all of the best locations.
"So.." Anna's voice snapped Elsa back to reality. "...you and Honeymaren are becoming pretty good friends I'd say. You chauffeured her around all day, and from Ryder was telling Kristoff you guys hang out a lot in the forest?" Anna was putting in her earrings, not looking at Elsa who was red in the face.
"Uh yeah, she's pretty cool,"
"That's good, you know I was worried about you for a while there, It's just you don't make friends easily and I didn't want you to isolate yourself again. I'm glad you are opening up to other people." Elsa started to relax, Anna didn't know what was going on after all.
"Yeah you know how it is. You get tossed in a pool of sharks you... you... never mind I don't know where I was going with that." Elsa replied, in a pitiful attempt to further burry her tracks. Why do I care so much if she knows? Maren and I figured this out earlier. Elsa couldn't understand why a part of her was still anxious about telling Anna about her girlfriend, if that's what Honeymaren was. Wait is she my girlfriend? Is that what you call a girl's girl? Before Elsa could dawdle on the thought to the point of mass confusion, Anna stood up in a prompt form, staring at herself in the mirror.
"Elsa. I'm done."
"Turn around." Anna turned around to look at her sister. Despite her doubts, Anna looked amazing. She looked royal. Her sisters hair was braided with flowers in it, her dress was a ball gown, poofy and big just like how Anna always wanted. The thing that completed the look was Anna's smile, bright an truly excited. She's getting married. What happened? She's getting married.
"Oh Anna," Elsa said, "you look gorgeous."
"Really?"
"Oh yeah, Kristoff is going to have a hard time keeping his hands off you." Elsa laughed, getting a small cuff from her sister. "Do you feel ready?" Elsa asked when the two stopped laughing.
"I do. I really really do. This is a new chapter in my life and I just can't wait for it." Elsa watched her sister look at herself in the mirror again, admiring her handiwork. Anna's words stuck in Elsa's head: "This is a new chapter of my life." This is a new chapter in my life too. Elsa has thought of all she had been through since she'd seen her sister last. She had dealt with inner demons, met her best friend and possibly girlfriend, she had found her identity and spoken out loud about her past. Elsa gulped and looked at Anna intensely.
"Anna," she said, getting her sister's attention. Anna's expression grew serious when she saw the look on her sisters face.
"Yes Elsa?" Elsa took a deep breath, in through the nose, and out through the mouth.
"I-I have been honest with you today."
"What do you mean?"
"When you asked about me and Honeymaren earlier I left out some details. Her and I, we are more than friends."
"You said best friends."
"No, well yes, but we are more than that even. We are friends like... like you and Kristoff were friends, before all of this." Despite her best efforts Anna still didn't seem to get it. "Anna, what I'm trying to say is me and Honeymaren are together, like dating."
"Oh... ohhhhhh," a look of realization appeared on Anna's face.
"I... I like girls, like you like boys."
"Yeah... I got that now." For a moment Elsa has thought this is it. She had just gotten uninvited from the wedding and Arendelle. "You know when I said bring a date to the wedding, I didn't think you actually would." The girls laughed for a moment before Anna continued," Elsa don't be afraid to tell me things.. I might not get it right away, as I just demonstrated, but I love you, and nothing will change that. You're my sister." Elsa she's a year at her kind words and the two sisters hugged. After a few minutes of the embrace Anna broke it off. "As much as I love getting this affection from you," the ginger said, "your tears are smearing my makeup and I am getting married in an hour." Elsa laughed and peeled herself away from Anna.
"You're right, come on let's get you married."
Did anyone pick up on it being Rapunzel before I revealed the name? Hope you enjoyed, new chapter coming soon.
