Elsa was going against all over introverted instincts. She should remove herself from the situation, her instincts said, but she refused. The weight of her braid on her head seemed to get heavier, but she ignored it. Folk music played in the background, although it was drowned out by party noise, specifically her sister's calls of excitement. A few people held drinks in their hands while throwing at a dart board. The two of them made their way toward the Queen, who was already tipsy. Kristoff was keeping her reined in, but he was doing the bare minmum.
"Hey Elsa," Honeymaren said from her side. "Tonight's about having fun, not babysitting your sister. Remember that." Elsa smiled and gave her head a slight shake,
"Alright alright. I'm going to go see what's up with the newlyweds, you coming or..."
"I'll catch up with you in a hot minute, I ran into someone earlier I want to catch up with."
"Okay, I'll look for you in a moment." Elsa watched as Honeymaren ran off into the crowd, the red gown flowing behind her as if leaving a trail for Elsa to hold onto. Elsa made her way over to Anna and Kristoff, who were chatting with another royalty couple.
"We'll speak of the devil!" Anna called when she saw Elsa, "this is my sister I was telling you about- Elsa" Anna explained to the the pair. The man was about 5 inches taller than Elsa and the girl was about Anna's height. The women had long blonde hair, that was slightly curly. She wore a subtle blue dress decorated with symbols of nature. The man wore a more sophisticated outfit showing his status as a king.
"Elsa, it's an honour to meet you," the man reached out his hand.
"Oh and you too... uh,"
"Phillip, and this is wife, Aurora."
"Nice to meet you Phillip, and Aurora."
"Sorry for asking, but is it true you have the ability to control ice?" Aurora asked. The girl was younger than Elsa, by maybe a few years, but definitely an adult.
"Oh, uh yeah." Elsa made a small ice feature with her hands, a horse pulling a carriage.
"Wow, it's beautiful."
"Thanks," Elsa replied, trying not to feel awkward.
"So Elsa!" Anna said, interrupting the silence, "i require an audience with you in the back corner over there." Elsa laughed at her sister's words, the alcohol had them coming out sloppy and mispronounced. Anna took Elsa's hand and pulled her to the corner or the ballroom, of which there was only a potted plant.
"So uh... I saw you and Honeymaren come in together," Anna "whispered", making exaggerated movements with her eyebrows.
"Yeah, we decided to come together tonight. I brought a date, like you said..." Anna held a mischievous grin on her face before replying.
"I will be playing Cupid, the goal is to get you two to..." Anna cut of her words to make a crude, yet funny hand gesture, simultaneously attempting to wink.
"Anna!" Elsa scoffed, blocking her sisters hands from public view. Anna put her hands down and stood up straight,
"Everyone!" The ginger yelled, gathering the attention of the room, "I first want to thank you all for attending, this is an awesome party. But let's get moving and grooving, band, cue the dance music!"
Earlier
Honeymaren went off to find Rapunzel, she said to meet her at the party when the room was finished. She finally found the short haired girl having a conversation with a couple, and wrapped in the arms of a man.
"Honeymaren! Hi!" Rapunzel said when she saw Honeymaren nearing. "Honeymaren this is my husband, Eugene."
"Eugene, it's nice to meet you," Honeymaren said, shaking his hand and giving a slight bow. After the introductions Rapunzel went off to the side to speed with Honeymaren.
"Alright is the room is finished, I opened all of the windows to air it out and dry so it might be cold in there."
"It's okay, she's not bothered by the cold." Honeymaren widened her eyes and her heart began to race. She hadn't told Rapunzel who this was for, not only had she used 'she' as a pronoun, she also exposed Elsa resistance to cold. Oh no this could be bad... what if she tells ryder? Or yelena? Despite the words, Rapunzel seemed unfazed, like everything was normal.
"I guess so... hey Honeymaren, if you need anything else, let me know, I'm happy to help." Honeymaren smiled and nodded, after saying farewells she was going to find Elsa, until Anna hollered the party's attention.
"I first want to thank you all for attending, this is an awesome party. But let's get moving and grooving, band, cue the dance music!" Honeymaren saw Elsa standing beside the drunken bride. Elsa had a panicked looked as she attempted to pull Anna out of the way of the riled crowd. Honeymaren decided that was her cue to meet up, and followed Elsa through the gap the two sisters disappeared in. Traditional music started to play, and before she knew it Honeymaren was tossed into a cultural dance. She was hopelessly confused at first, but started to get the hang of it. It was a small jig with a partner, then swap partners and repeat. She danced with a variety of boys, most of them younger than her, or older. She saw Ryder dancing with a red haired girl, doing quite well despite this being his first time. She modeled herself after Rapunzel who seemed to know the steps so well she could do it with her eyes closed.
"Honeymaren!" Rapunzel shouted, nodding in towards the other side of the room. Honeymaren followed her gesture and saw Elsa, who was dancing along. Kristoff and Anna were doing well, despite Anna's inability to stand up straight. Honeymaren made eye contact with Elsa from across the room. As the music picked up, each partner switch the two tried to get closer together. The navy of Elsa's outfit stuck in the crowd, Honeymaren thanked herself for picking it out. She had no doubt her red dress was a beacon as well, most of the women here had traditional ball gowns, or simple Sunday dresses that marked they were taken. Honeymaren could sense the last bar of the song was near, so she lifted the front of her dress and sprinted toward Elsa. Elsa opened her arms and lifted Honeymaren into the air as the the song ended with a cheerful tune. She spun Honeymaren around once before setting her on the floor and grabbing her hands.
"How's your night been?" Honeymaren asked Elsa. Elsa scoffed, but it was mixed with a chuckle.
"There's never a dull moment with Anna."
"Did you meet anyone who... peaked your interest?" Honeymaren teased.
"You know, there was this one girl... she was all over me. You know I did bring a date but it seems she's wandered off... hmm if only I could find that other girl again..." Elsa returned the tease.
"Oh my," Honeymaren said before placing her hands on Elsa's shoulders and leaning in for kiss. She could definitely tell that eyes were on them, not all of them, but enough she could notice. Elsa looked around at the fading party. Most of the Northuldrans had left, they had been travelling that morning so it made sense they'd be tired.
"Let's get out of here," Honeymaren said interrupting the silence, "go back to your room... relax." She notice Elsa gulp and hold a slight blush before she replied.
"Yeah, that sounds perfect." Honeymaren felt Elsa grab her by the waist, so Honeymaren repeated the posture. They leaned their heads together and started the trek up the stairs and towards Elsa's room.
Hope you enjoyed, I cut this one in half so I could post and finish the other half.
