"You plan for us to stay completely still and let them hold a knife to our throat?" Feyre said, nearly shrieking.
Rhysand merely said ", I didn't plan it. Aelin did. No, we are not staying still and letting them hold a knife to our throat, Feyre darling, we are simply letting them into our world so they can see if we are to be trusted."
Feyre stood and stared at him, but then his violet eyes twinkled in confusion ", How did you hear that and change it to 'stand still and hold a knife to the throat' ?"
Feyre merely shrugged and said simply ", I worry."
"One would assume that you're overreacting."
"Stressful morning."
Rhys raised a brow.
Feyre sighed to her nose, blew out a raspberry and slumped onto the bed in the lavish chambers in which they shared. "I miss Maven," she finally said after a moment ", What if he has separation anxiety?"
Her mate rolled his eyes and sat on the bed next to her laying form. "You worry too much," he smirked ", Good thing we're returning soon."
"How many."
"I'm not sure, but the three main rulers are coming, Rowan too. But they are going to pick two extra people or entities."
It was Feyre's turn to raise her brows.
"The witch wants to bring her mount. The queen wants to bring her dog."
"I really don't think it's that hard to manage to manage a winged horse and a dog."
Rhys' smirk set her stomach dropping.

Manon felt as though she could fall asleep right in the middle of the council, and wondered silently if the Queen of Terrasen would fight or taunt her about it. It's not her fault if Aelin's court spent literally three hours discussing who would go. The worst part was, they weren't done.
Abraxos was coming, that was factual. She threatened to rip off Aedion's favorite part when he suggested her mount to stay behind. Lysandra only warned her husband jokingly that Manon might not be kidding. She wasn't wrong.
Fleetfoot was apparently coming because the Queen of Terrasen did not trust her cousin and the rest of her court to look after the hound. Evangeline was nearly fifteen now, and she was still on her way with Darrow from Arran. Besides it shouldn't be such a big deal, they were only going to be gone a few days, two weeks at most.
So, honestly, she really didn't see the point of this council meeting. Aelin could've just picked two and be done with it. Instead, the queen had decided to bore her guests to the point in which Manon wanted to flip the table over and crush their bodies beneath the thick wood. Whoever survives gets to go.
"I should go," Aedion said for the hundredth time ", I am blood sworn to her and her eternal protector."
"Rowan is going," Lorcan countered.
"I can go," Elide said softly, though not weakly ", You know what I can do."
"If she's going so am I," Lorcan said sharply.
"I should go," Lysandra chimed in, almost immediately ", I can also play spy."
"I agree with her," Aedion said enthusiastically.
"Please," Aelin said ", Of course, you'd agree, if Lysandra goes then so would you, who the hell would look after my country?"
"Lorcan and Elide."
"Elide needs to look after Perranth, and Lorcan is-" Aelin just shook her head.
"Fine," Aedion said, eyes ablaze.
"Fine," Aelin replied, studying her nails.
There was a pause of silence, awkward tension, and a lot of bristling rage from Aedion. Elide spoke up again, louder this time ", Perranth is well planned ahead, I already made plans with the head of the guard for any backup, it would last more than a month without me, I can go."
Aelin contemplated, a look of innocence on her face, though her eyes never straying from the Lady of Perranth. "Fine," she said simply.
There was an expression of shock upon the Lady's face, but it was quickly schooled as she gave a curt nod. Lorcan remained unbothered, Aedion looked as though he wanted to grow fangs and rip the table apart chunk by chunk. Lysandra, to hide to own emotion, shifted into a ghost leopard and padded out, Aedion trailing her, her gown and clothing in his arms.
Manon made to stand up and she only noted on the corner of her eyes as Dorian got up and followed her. Chaol and Yrene weren't in this meeting because they'd already decided with Dorian to look after Adarlan for him so there was no use for them here.
Manon suddenly halted in her tracks, the hallway dark and darkening as the sun started to set. She stared at the red carpet, washed in golds and reds and yellows as she asked The King of Adarlan, who was standing stoic and patiently next to her ", Do you mind if-if-"'
She spied him looking at her confused and curious as she shook her mind and started once more. "If there was a monster, a beast," she said, starting their walk once more ", and there was a beautiful bird."
"If the beast were to make many mistakes, over the years it had lived if the bird were to charm the beast-" she dropped her voice low ", would it be able to forgive the beast for all its sinister acts? Or would it be too late?"
They paused in front of the door to their chambers, the silence heavy but not stifling around them as Dorian answered softly, looking right at her, sapphire eyes swallowing her whole ", No, it's never too late."
She stood still, not as tense as she used to but still, as he bent over and planted a kiss on her head. She felt her cheeks flushed slightly without her permission. Without knowing what she was doing she said hoarsely ", I have something I need to do."
The King only smirked at her, opened the door to their chambers and said ", I'll be here, waiting, witchling."
She gave him a small smile as she cooed ", No need to wait, princeling, I might be gone a while."
He raised a brow ", Should I be worried?"
She was already starting back down the hallways, but she waved a dismissive hand, and she heard him chuckle before closing the doors.
Mother help her, if this didn't work then it would be the end of her.
