About half hour later, we arrived at a small house with a red roof. It looked old. And polar opposite to my house. But it looked cosy and it looked like a happy family grew up there.
Seth stopped the bike and helped me off. I adjusted my outfit again before taking the helmet off. And taking a minute to admire the house.
"It's not much. But its home," Seth told me.
"It looks beautiful. I can sense the memories that are here, I love it!" I told him.
He looked down at me happily.
"I dread to think what memories you can sense," a female voice said.
I was so busy admiring the house, I hadn't seen a woman leave it and walk up to us. She looked like the female version of Seth. Her warm brown eyes comforted me, and my nervousness disappeared.
"El, this is my mum," Seth introduced "Mum, this is my girlfriend Elizabeth,"
"It's a pleasure to meet you ma'am," I said politely holding my hand out.
She took it and shivered slightly but didn't let go.
"Call me Sue, it's nice to finally see the girl that has had my boy drooling for months," Sue told me with a smile.
"Mum!" Seth whined.
I grabbed his hand and squeezed it. And he smiled down at me.
"Leah is inside," Sue told us "Please come in Elizabeth,"
Me and Seth followed her into the house removing our shoes near the door. The inside was the same as outside. Faded cream paint in the entrance hall which led to a larger than I expected living room. A dining table was perched in the corner and black leather sofas sat in the middle of the room surrounding a large tv.
On one of these sofas sat Leah. I had seen her from a distance, so I knew her. But I had never met her. She stood when we entered the room.
"El, this is my big sister Leah, Leah this is Elizabeth," Seth told us.
Leah nodded at me when I smiled warmly at her. She then went and sat at the table. I looked at Seth worried and he just shook his head telling me to ignore her.
We sat for hours talking with Sue. I soon felt very comfortable around her and I was actually enjoying myself. But I couldn't get Leah out of my head. When Seth was in a deep discussion with his mum I snuck away and made my way to the table.
I scared Leah when I took a seat next to her.
"Hi Leah," I said kindly.
She nodded her head at me but didn't say a word. We sat in silence for a while. I heard Sue telling Seth to sit down and leave us be, right before I started my speech to Leah.
"Look... I know you don't like me... or my family...and I totally get that. We are the reason you turned into a wolf... and I'm sorry..." I told her.
Leah scoffed "You don't get it at all,"
"I might. Just try me," I suggested.
"I'm the only girl... I'm an anomaly. I am stuck like this..." she told me.
"See I do get it. Probably not for the same reasons but I do get it," I told her smiling brightly.
She looked at me like I was crazy.
"How?" she asked.
"Okay so 1) You're the only girl in the packs.... Well I'm the only vampire my age in my family... all my siblings are all near enough the same ages 17-20. And Edward was pretty much 18 when he was turned so that really makes the ages 18-20. I am 15. That's 3 years between us. None of them get me, and I don't get them. Rose mourns for children she can have. That's something I will never understand. It's hard to be so different. They are all adults... and I never will be. I will always be a child... and that's what they all see me as. I am 100 years old. I am the second-best fighter in my family, but because I'm in a child's body... they won't let me help when danger presents itself...I bet you get that as well," I told her.
"Yes!" she exclaimed "They don't like me doing patrol or fighting... because I'm a girl!"
"Which is a stupid attitude to have because we could beat any man's arse," I told her, and she nodded in agreement smiling slightly at me.
With the smile I continued.
"And 2) your stuck like that, I assume you mean you can't have children... I don't get that... Rose does as I said but I don't... what I do get is the fact that I have had to live through high school so many times, but I cannot graduate ever! High school is a pain! But because I'm stuck at the age 15, I will never wear the stupid hat and gown that my siblings get to wear all the time. And it irritates me that I'm annoyed. Because some of those gowns are terribly ugly... but I just want to graduate... graduate at anything," I told her.
"I think that sucks more," Leah laughed "If I stop phasing, my body will move forward again... but that means leaving my kid brother. But being stuck at high school forever seems like absolute torture,"
"It is!" I cried out.
"Well you just graduated at something," Leah told me.
I looked at her confused.
"You graduated from my enemy to my friend," She told me taking my hand and squeezing it gently.
I grinned at her happily.
"To be fair I never hated you... I have not seen Seth so happy since dad died," she told me.
I looked away sadly "I wish I could have met him,"
"He would have liked you," Leah told me "Despite the whole vampire thing," she laughed.
"He would have loved her," Sue called across the room "Because she made you smile Leah,"
Leah rolled her eyes at me behind her mums back. I grinned and looked over at Seth who looked beyond happy.
"He's pestered me and mum to leave the house later," Leah told me.
I blushed knowing what she meant.
"You know, I won't get used to you looking so human but smelling so vampy..." Leah laughed.
"It confuses a lot of people," I laughed.
"El come back here! I miss you," Seth called across the room. Even though I would have heard him if he whispered it.
I rolled my eyes at Leah who sniggered as I stood up and went and sat next to Seth. Only to be pulled onto his lap causing me to blush. Seth kissed my red cheeks chuckling softly. Sue just smiled happily at us.
We all sat talking for a while longer. Sue ordered pizza and everyone else ate it while I answered questions and snuggled into Seth.
"Well I have to go, I'm on patrol tonight," Leah exclaimed standing up and stretching.
"Ellie, it was nice to meet you, we will have to meet up soon," she told me.
"Definitely. Maybe we could go shopping for art supplies or go to an art gallery," I replied.
It turned out Leah loved drawing as much as I did. And she was pretty darn good at it.
"That sounds like a plan!" Leah exclaimed hugging me softly as best she could while I was still sat on Seth's lap.
She bid her family goodbye before walking out of the house. A few moments later Sue stood up and gathered the left-over pizza.
"I'm going to take this to Charlie. There's a game on... and however much he tries, he cannot survive on beer," Sue laughed.
"Oh, can you say hi from me!" I asked.
"Of course, I don't know if I will be back tonight. If you leave, make sure you lock up Seth." Seth nodded at her "It's been lovely to meet you Elizabeth. You are welcome anytime,"
I stood up and hugged her only to be pulled back into Seth's lap after.
"Laters mum!" Seth grinned and sue roller her eyes at him before grabbing some keys and heading out of the house. I heard an engine start and a truck pull away.
"Did they like me?" I asked.
"Of course, they did, Leah liked you a lot more than I thought she would, it's been a day of wins," he laughed.
He stood up, pulling me with him.
"Now we spend a lot of time in your bedroom. Time to see mine," he smirked pulling me through the bungalow.
