Chapter 33

"What if you could ensure that my daughter isn't a threat to this world. Can we leave in peace?" he asked.

"Of course, but that cannot be known," Caius stated.

"Actually, it can," Edward said sounding relieved.

"I've been searching for witnesses of my own," Alice stated.

And three people came out of the woods. One of them was Kachiri who ran and hugged her sisters. The other two I didn't recognise.

"The time for witnesses are over!" Caius all but screamed at her.

"I can see why my sister doesn't like you," Alice hissed at him and I smirked.

Aro silenced Caius before he could say anything else "Let him speak brother,"

The male stepped forwards. I listened and I could hear a heartbeat just like Ness's.

"I am half human, half vampire. Like the child. A vampire seduced my mother, who died giving birth to me. My aunt Huilen raised me as her own," The male explained.

Huilen coughed slightly.

"I made her immortal," the man continued.

"How old are you?" Bella interrupted.

"150 years," he answered.

Bella looked to Edward relieved.

"At what aged did you reach maturity?" Aro asked interested.

"Approximately 7 years after my birth. I have not changed since then," the young man explained.

"And your diet?" Aro asked again.

"Blood, human food... I can survive on either," he responded simply.

"These children are much like us!" Marcus sighed with a hint of relief.

"Regardless, the Cullen's have been consorting with werewolves, our natural enemies," Caius complained.

I rolled my eyes at him and Aro shook his head at his brother before speaking to his guard.

"Dear ones, there is no danger here," he comforted "We will not fight today," he added in a tone that suggested a threat.

One by one the Volturi turned and ran away.

Not being able to hold myself back anymore I ran to the brother and sister I hadn't seen in months.

"Jazz! Alice!" I exclaimed throwing myself at them.

"El! My god I missed you!" Jasper mumbled into my hair.

"I missed you both so much! You are never allowed to leave ever again!" I said sternly.

They both nodded happily.

"Now show me the ring!" Alice screamed.

"How did you know?" I asked confused.

I heard Seth chuckle behind me.

"They are your family. I had to ask their permission as well, I sent them a text... not expecting a reply back. But I got one, filled with a lot of threats but giving me permission," he said wrapping his arms around my waist as Alice grabbed my hand and admired the ring.

"Good choice Seth," Alice remarked.

"Rose has missed you," I whispered to Jasper who smiled warmly kissing my forehead.

Alice hugged me one last time before running off with Jasper to say hello to the rest of the family.

"I love you," I said spinning in Seth's arms.

"I love you too," Seth said kissing me softly.

A cough caused us to break apart.

We turned quickly to see Alec standing there.

I felt Seth stiffen and I heard my family go quiet as they watched.

"Ummm... I wanted to apologise Beth... I mean Elizabeth. You were right. I messed up. And I will forever regret it. I should have stood up and protected you and your family when you needed me too... and I didn't. I just followed orders. Orders I should have refused. I broke your heart when I should have been the one fixing it. So, I am very sorry. And however much it hurts me, I am glad you found someone to protect you when I didn't step up to the plate. I am glad you are happy," he whispered looking at the floor.

"Alec," I leant forward and grabbed his hand "You did mess up. I'm not going to sugar-coat it because I am pissed at you. You hurt me in ways I didn't know I could be hurt. I have been to hell and back over you. You need to grow a backbone and stand up to what you think is right. Don't be a blind soldier. Do what you know is best. Because you not doing that is where this hell all started. But I refuse to keep the hate I feel for you in my heart anymore... so I forgive you," Alec gasped at me.

"I forgive you Alec Volturi. But I don't want to see your face again. Ever again. You may be a part of my past. A very dark part of my past. But I am focussing on my future now, because that's so much better than wallowing in the could have beens.

The last little part of my heart that cares for you, hopes you can do the same. And when you get an opportunity to care about someone again. I hope to God you don't mess it up. Because it's going to be a very long eternity for you if you spend it alone," I finished by dropping his hand.

He nodded sadly.

"You will always hold my heart Elizabeth Cullen. But I'm not going to ruin your happiness..." he turned to Seth "Look after her. She's amazing,"

"I know. I helped rebuild her when you left her broken mate. I know her better than I know myself. And I am never going to hurt her the way you did. Not ever," Seth growled out.

"Good," Alec stated simply.

He smiled sadly at me once more before turning and walking away. Me and Seth watched him leave until he was out of sight.

"Phew that was awkward. The fiancé and the ex.," I chuckled.

"Hmm fiancé, I very much like that word," Seth whispered in my ear.

I giggled and turned to kiss him. And we stood kissing in the snow ready to start the rest of our lives.
