Chapter 28

A few hours later we had a decorated tree. I mean... Ness tried to decorate the tree... But the important thing is her and Charlie both had fun.

A car horn caught our attention and Ness ran to the window.

"Mums back!" she cried out.

"Come on then little one. We best get you back. You can try and convince Grandpa Carlisle to get a Christmas tree," I told Ness.

Ness ran to get her shoes on, and I followed suit.

"Thanks for having me Charlie, Sue," I thanked giving them both a hug.

"See you around Jake," I waved at him and he nodded at me.

I turned to Seth and kissed him.

"I will see you tomorrow okay?" I told him.

He nodded reluctantly and hugged me tightly. I pulled away, waved at everyone and jumped into the front of the car.

Bella was saying thanks to her dad before she came and placed Ness in her car seat and climbed into the driver's side.

We started the drive home in silence and Ness was soon asleep. So, I took the opportunity to comment on her not staying at her dads.

"I am very good at hiding secrets from my brother Bells. I won't tell him that I saw you driving off to god knows where, but I need to know what you're planning," I told her.

"I can't tell you, only my mind is safe from Aro..." Bella told me.

I nodded "Its for Ness's safety?"

She nodded.

"From Alice, right?" I stated.

She looked shocked but slowly nodded.

"That's all I need to know. Edward won't find out," I promised.

Bella smiled slightly at me.

"So, what's new at the house?" I asked changing the topic.

"Not a lot, just a bunch of vampires that we have to keep occupied," Bella laughed.

I chuckled as we pulled into the driveway. When the engine had stopped, we jumped out. Bella grabbed her sleeping daughter and gestured that she was going back to her cottage. I nodded at her and they disappeared into the forest. I ran into the house which was unusually quiet. I walked into the living room and saw dad and Edward having a discussion.

"Guess who's home!" I sung running into dads' arms.

"Hey sweetie, we've missed you," Dad told me as mum came rushing into the room and hugged me.

I saw Eddie leave the room silently. Wow... nice one Edward.

"Gosh its only been a few days," I laughed.

"Doesn't matter, we still missed you," mum told me.

"And Seth called ahead saying you were going to need to feed, so we were ready for you," Edwards voice said as he walked back into the room holding a steaming mug.

"You guys are making him worse than you," I rolled my eyes at them but took the blood and sipped on it slowly.

We all sat down and caught up, basically we just ended up talking about the visiting vamps, all of whom were out hunting at the moment. The idea of that made me shiver. Seattle is going to have a high death rate tonight...

Rose and Emmett walked in just before midnight with a Bella and a Renesmee.

Rose and Emmett disappeared after a while, and Bella, Ness and dad all went to dad's office to do some checks on Renesmee. Mum went to prepare some food for the day, and it left me and Eddie sitting on the sofa.

"Why do you think Jazz and Alice left Eddie?" I asked.

He was silent for a moment.

"I think they left to keep us safe... Aro wants Alice, if she's not here he might not fight us..." Edward mumbled.

"You know that's not true..." I sighed.

"Its better than thinking the other option... that they left because we are all going to die," Edward told me grabbing my hand "I can't bear the thought of losing you, or Bella, or Renesmee," he confided.

"There's so much at stake Eddie," I muttered.

"I know Lizzie, we have so much to lose now," he pulled me into a hug, and we sat like that until the red eyed vamps started wandering in.

"OMG!" I stood up quickly.

"What!" Edward exclaimed shocked.

"It's Christmas eve Eddie!" I cried out "Will you take me shopping?"

Edward rolled his eyes at me.

"Did you really not know what day it is?" he asked.

"No! Does this look like the face of someone who knew it was Christmas eve?" I exclaimed pointing at my face "Now answer the question!"

"I can't El, Seth asked for my help. So, I'm booked," Edward laughed out.

"So, you chose to help my boyfriend over me... your own flesh and blood!" I cried out.

Edward raised his arms in surrender.

"Fine!" I hissed and stormed up to my room.

"What's up with El?" I heard Tanya ask.

"She's forgotten how to tell what day it is," Edward explained.

"I will kill you Edward Anthony Mason Cullen," I called out.

"Try it Elizabeth Lily Mason Cullen," Edward teased.

"Oh hush... don't you have a wolf to go shopping with?" I laughed while rummaging around my room.

I found what I was looking for... a canvas.

Yes, I know... all my gifts are always art... but creating something is better than buying something. Shows more time and energy went into the gift.

I chucked my radio on before I grabbed a pencil and started sketching the same drawing I drew for Seth before the fight with Victoria. Around the outside, I drew all my favourite memories we shared. And in the corner. Instead of the old message I wrote, I added 'To may amazing boyfriend Seth, I will love you always, Love Elizabeth xxx'

I then grabbed my paints and started to add colour. Dancing along as I painted. When I had finished, I stepped back and admired my work. It was the best piece I had ever produced.

I looked at the time and saw that the day had passed. I wandered downstairs wondering where Seth and Edward were.

I walked into the kitchen and barely hand enough time to catch Renesmee as she ran at me.

"Hey sweetie," I cooed hugging her tightly.

She cuddled back into me and I walked the rest of the way into the kitchen.

"Hey Eddie, where's Seth?" I asked my brother.

"He had to do emergency patrol tonight, but he said he will see you tomorrow, if your coming to Charlies for Christmas that is?" Edward explained while he was tidying up after Renesmee's dinner.

"Please Aunty El," Ness begged sleepily into my ear.

"Of course, I will Ness," I promised "Are we still hunting tomorrow night?"

Edward nodded at me smiling "Of course, we do it every Christmas,"

I grinned back at him.

"Do what?" Bella's voice came from the doorway.

"Every Christmas we go on a family hunting trip. Our way of having a Christmas dinner. It's the tradition we came up with after my first go at Christmas failed," I explained to her.

"Oh well count me in," Bella smiled warmly.

"And me..." Ness mumbled into my shoulder.

"Come on Renesmee, time for bed I think," Bella chuckled taking the sleeping child off of me.

"Night night aunty Ellie," Ness whispered.

Bella and Edward both kissed my cheeks before they walked out of the house.
