Chapter 31

This was actually one of the first chapters I wrote. I absolutely love it! Can you guess the song that inspired it?

Me and Seth were standing near the tree line. Our backs to the other vampires, while looking out over the clearing in which we could die.

"I have something for you," Seth said, and I looked at him curiously.

He coughed nervously and looked down at his shuffling feet.

"Okay," he said taking a deep breath.

I chuckled at his nervousness and took his hand. He smiled down at my hand in his and he stopped shuffling.

"I love you," he stated.

"I love you too," I answered back squeezing his hand.

"Alright here goes..." He took a deep breath before looking into my eyes "Elizabeth Mason Cullen, the last three months with you have been the best in my entire life, and I know my life has been very short... only 16 years... but I know the rest of my life will be amazing as long as your with me. And I know we both look young... too young to actually legally get married, plus I don't want to scare you away"

I chuckled before he dropped to one knee and I gasped covering my mouth with my hand "So this ring," He pulled a ring out of his pocket "This ring can symbolise anything we want it to symbolise. But most importantly it's my promise. It's a promise that you will always be my number one, a whole lot more than good enough for me. It's a promise that I will love you and treasure you as long as we may live... even if that is just until tomorrow. And it's a promise that I will never, ever hurt you, if you will accept me"

I nodded with venom in my eyes and Seth slipped the ring onto my ring finger beaming with happiness. I fell to my knees in front of him and pulled him in to a deep kiss.

I pulled apart smiling.

"Seth," I started "When I met you just over a year ago, I never thought we would be where we are now. And although the journey has been difficult, I would never change a thing. Because it led me straight to you. And I don't care how young we look, I want the world to know how much I love you because with you, I am happy being me, I don't pretend... because I don't need to. I have all I need when you're standing right in front of me. With you I finally see what it means to be complete. Anywhere with you I will call my home. Now all I need is for you to be the better half of me,"

I pulled the chain holding my father's ring off my neck and held the ring out to Seth's hand. He wiped a tear away before letting me slip the ring onto his finger. Surprisingly it fit perfectly. He pulled me into a tight hug and we just sat like that for ages. Both on our knees opposite each other, with our arms round each other.

"Did we just get engaged?" Seth whispered in my ear.

"Possibly...are you okay with that?" I asked pulling away and looking him in the eyes while biting my lip nervously.

"That's what I wanted, I actually got your families permission... but I decided to word it in a way that wouldn't scare you away," Seth told me.

"You did," I exclaimed looking over to where my family were sitting. They were watching us smiling happily.

"Edward was the scariest..." Seth shuddered "but he helped me buy the ring, he said he appreciated the bravery it took to ask him..."

"When did you get the chance to do all that?" I asked in awe.

"Well I asked your parents when we got back from collecting the witnesses. And I asked Edward when you were training everyone to fight. We brought the ring on Christmas Eve. Everyone else I asked when you spent the day with Leah, took an awful lot of convincing but they agreed... a few threats were issued though," He told me, and I chuckled slightly.
