Hafis stared at the opened page of the diary with keen interest, the words did cut deep to his soul. But just before he could read more the wind once again blew, turning to another page of the diary.

"Oh, you can't read it without her permission" he told himself.

He did not read much, but the little he read was like a spell that teleported him to the near past.

Flashback
A younger version of Hafiz sat on the sofa, leg crossed with his eyes focused on the TV. It was one of the rare days he could be found at home back then. Few minutes later he was joined by his mother.

"Son" She said in a soft voice, sitting next to him.

"Yes, mom" He shifted his attention to her.

"Why don't you get married to Maria, she's a nice woman and Its evident she loves you so much."

"No way! I am not marrying her mom. You might not see it, but i know she is crazy. I mean look at how she keeps calling my phone even when i don't answer. Just look"

He flashed his phone at his mother. "23 missed calls" was displayed on the screen.

"I mean who does this mom? The last time we went out she punched a waitress right in the face, do you know why? Because she looked at me. I've told her numerous times that i don't like her but she refuses to listen and I can't believe you are siding with her."

"But son, she's doing all of these because she love you. Beside we will all be happy if you two get married. Your fathers have been friends since childhood."

"Why must i be caught in-between their friendship? Mom, i dont love Maria and i am definitely not marrying her"

Hafiz was really reluctant on marrying Maria. Maria is someone he grew up with even though she was a few years younger than him. She was a rebellious and posessive child and none of that changed even after she grew up. One of the things that never changed was her obsession with Hafiz. She was obsessed with him ever since her heart was old enough to hold emotions, but to him, she was just that little sister clinging to her brother. She loved him through her teenage and oneday she finally confessed her love for him. Even when he made it clear that he doesn't love her, she never gave up on him. When her parents discovered about her love for him, they were ready to do whatever it takes to buy happiness for their daughter. So, they proposed the marriage to his parents and they agreed. Even after such proposal Hafiz's mind remained unchanged and thus his mother was trying to convince him one more time.

"Its not really about their friendship. Can't you see how much she's suffering all because she love you? She cry all night just because of you, she even got admitted to hospital just because of you. Yes she's obsessed with you and I've never seen a girl so in love than her." His mother's voice became argumentative as she spoke, shaking a little bit.

"But what's the use of marrying someone you don't love" He said.

Silence reigned over the room only the tv spoke in a low volume, they were both thinking of each other's last point.

Hafiz's father who watched the drama from behind the scene finally walked up to the stage. He realized that his wife won't be able to convince Hafiz to agree, obviously her plan had failed. This was the last chance and as agreed, now things had to be done his way.

"You are getting married to her, next week" He said authoritatively as he sat adjacent to the mother and son duo.

"No. I am not" Hafiz said.

Both his father and mother stared in shock, "We've been here once" they thought.

"Listen young man, lets not pretend you are man enough to contend with my words"
