Everyone had returned to Hogwarts a month and a half ago. Hermione had been swept up in the drama that was her two best friends. Ron wanted to break up with Lav-Lav because she was too clingy. Harry was convinced that Draco was up to no good. Hermione was tired from always defending him and lying to her best friends. But she loved him and would do anything for him.
In the time since they had returned to Hogwarts, Hermione had not spent much time with Draco. He was busy with his cabinet and she was busy trying to keep him on the good side.
And so, as the weeks went on, she and Draco drifted further apart, communicating through their letters and smiles in class.
Their 2 year anniversary was a Monday night. Draco had surprised Hermione with a bouquet of peonies and a book, which were waiting for her when she woke up. She grinned and read his note, which immediately made her frown.
My beautiful princess,
I love you so much and cannot believe that you have given me two years of your time. I'm so sorry that we cannot be together today. I have been called to go home for a meeting, about the cabinet and the other task which I dread to think I will ever have to do. I will try to sneak out of potions early to spend some time with you before I have to leave. I cannot wait to hold you in my arms.
With love,
Your dashing prince
Hermione folded the note back up and went about her day, as if she didn't just hear sad news. When she arrived in potions, she saw Draco and Blaise chatting. She looked at him with sad eyes and saw Blaise elbow him to look at her. He turned and locked eyes, blowing her a kiss. Her face lit up and she sat down, blushing lightly. How he could do that with just a look, she had no clue.
They rushed through their potions and Hermione and Draco left around the same time. As soon as she stepped foot outside of the classroom, Draco pulled her into his arms. "I'm so sorry for ruining today. You deserve better"
"I'm not going to say I'm not disappointed. But it's ok. You've got a lot going on" she said, holding his cheek lovingly.
"Saturday, you, me, room of requirement. It will be great," he said as he pulled away and walked down the corridor. Hermione smiled and turned, knocking into Harry.
"Who's got you smiling like that?" He asked, baffled. Hermione shook her head and walked away.

Saturday night was finally here and Hermione was so excited to see her boyfriend. She arrived at the room of requirement at 8 pm and saw 2 first years standing outside the doors. "Aren't you two supposed to be in bed?" She asked, confused.
"We're here on orders." One of the said quietly.
"Well if you don't mind, I'll be going inside," she said with an annoyed voice.
"We're also under orders not to let anyone in."
"Who's orders?" Hermione asked crossing her arms.
"Draco Malfoy" the girl said with a smirk. Hermione rubbed her forehead in anger and pressed her necklace 3 times. In a moment, Draco opened the door to see Hermione standing there looking very much annoyed. His eyes went wide and he ushered the girls to go back to the common room.
Hermione looked at him with anger in her eyes and he held the door open for her to enter. She shook her head but did anyway.
"First years as lookouts Draco? Are you trying to draw attention to yourself?"
"No my love. Harry has been following me for weeks. I can't take any chances." Draco said, holding her hand. She rolled her eyes.
"I would appreciate you letting them know I am allowed in"
