It was stormy Thursday night in Indiana and Mike and El were cuddled up on the couch watching Family Ties. Well Mike was falling asleep while El laid on his chest and stroked his curls. She always found herself looking at her boyfriend instead of the TV, she just found him mesmerising and way more interesting than anything on the screen.

It had been raining all day so Mike and El had to get picked up from school by Nancy who was on her way home from work. Hopper was at the station until 6:00pm so they had a bit of alone time.

Currently it was 7:30pm and Mike was putting off the idea of cycling home in the rain, but the later it got he knew his mother would be more annoyed.

When Mike moved slightly to begin the process of getting up, El tightened her grip around him, holding onto him like a Koala.

"You're such a leech El." Mike chuckled.

"Don't leave me" El pouted, putting all of her body weight onto him to prevent him getting up.

"I have to baby otherwise my mom won't let me come see you tomorrow." Mike said as he held her face in his hands and looked into her eyes.

El pouted more and crossed her arms. Mike just laughed and kissed her forehead. He wiggled out of her grasp and went to grab his coat and shoes when Hopper came through.

"You're not biking out in that are you kid?" Hopper asked.

"I kinda have to, mom will get mad." Mike shrugged.

"Well at least let me drive you, I don't want-"Hopper was cut off by a huge, booming clap of thunder which made everyone jump.

El squealed and covered herself with the blanket, the same blanket which Mike covered her with earlier when he saw she was cold.

"Hey El it's okay, just thunder." Mike walked over to her and held her in his arms, he knew how much thunder reminded her of gun shots, which only brings back huge amounts of trauma for her.

Over the past two years Hopper has learnt that Mike is the only one who can make her feel better, he is the one who can fully comfort her, which is why he has no regret in saying, "Well, looks like you're staying here tonight kid. I'll give your mom a call and let her know."

"Thanks Hopper." Mike smiled.

Hopper nodded and walked over to the phone, dialling the wheelers number.

"Hey, El, I'm not going anywhere. I'm right here." Mike said, poking her nose through the blanket which covered her face.

El immediately threw the blanket off and grabbed him, pulling him towards her and into her embrace.

"Woah." Mike laughed as he fell on top of her. He managed to catch himself so he didn't squish her, but he hovered just above her body so he could properly admire her. His love-sick trance was cut short by another loud clap of thunder which scared El so much she jumped up and accidentally kicked Mike somewhere he really didn't want to be kicked.

"Oh my god Mike I'm so sorry." El immediately rushed over to him, knowing what she did.

It was too late, he was doubled over in pain, clutching his... and his face was bright red.

"Hey Mike-" Hopper stopped in his tracks when he looked at the boy who was curled up on the floor. "What the hell happened? I left the room for two minutes."

"The thunder made me jump and I accidentally...kicked him." El blushed and looked at the floor.

"Ohh, I know the pain kid, let me get you some frozen peas or something." Hopper said, trying not to chuckle out loud. He made his way into the kitchen to find something to help ease the pain.
