27th October 1993:

"Dude she's totally gonna say yes!" Lucas exclaimed.

"If you think she won't you're more stupid than I thought." Dustin laughed.

"I agree with these two idiots." Max piped up.

"Okay okay, well what about Hopper? I still need to tell him and i'm not prepared to have my dick chopped off." Mike said, his head in his hands.

"Not before you have kids, I wanna be an auntie." Max objected.

Mike rolled his eyes and turned to Will and Lucas, hoping for a half decent reply at least.

"Hopper knows how much you two love eachother, if he gets angry he's got issues." Lucas chuckled.

"He won't get angry, he'll be happy trust me." Will smiled, patting Mike on the back.

"Okay. Wish me luck." Mike took a deep breath before making his way downstairs where Joyce and Hopper were watching Tv. He had come round to tell them but called the party for moral support. El was at work so he didn't need to worry about her finding out.

Lucas, Max, Will and Dustin all crowded together at the top of the stairs, half waiting to hear Hopper scream at the poor young man.

"Hopper? Joyce? Can I talk to you?" Mike asked awkwardly, his heart in his mouth.

"Sure honey, have a seat." Joyce smiled, patting the space next to her on the couch.

"What's going on kid?" Hopper asked, praying this wasn't a pregnancy announcement.

"Okay..." Mike exhaled, "I'm going to ask El to marry me."

"Oh my god! That's amazing news! Come here!" Joyce exclaimed, holding her arms out to embrace him.

Hopper stayed silent, making Mike panic slightly. Joyce had her arm around Mike, ready to argue with Hopper if he kicked off.

"It's about time!" Hopper joked, earning a giggle from Joyce.

"I'm kidding, I'm happy for you kid." Hopper smiled, bringing Mike into a hug.

Mike's eyes were wide in shock, he was expecting a completely different reaction.

"Do you think she'll say yes?" Mike asked, his face smushed against Hoppers shoulder.

"Are you serious? You could've asked her when you were 15 and she would've said yes so you don't need to worry about that. I trust that you'll take care of her just the way you have for the past decade." Hopper said, pulling away from Mike and putting an arm around a teary Joyce.

"I promise I will do that sir." Mike smiled, knowing he would love nothing more than to take care of her for the rest of his life.

Hopper smiled and put a hand on Mike's shoulder, "Call me Jim."

7th November 1993:

It was ten years to the day that Mike and El met on that stormy night out in the rain. Neither of them knew that from that moment on, their lives would be forever changed and they had found the one they were supposed to spend the rest of their life with. Their soulmate.

As soon as Mike's torch shone on El's frightened face and their eyes met, something clicked. As if in that moment, their souls intertwined and connected. Even though she was a small, frail girl with a shaved head, he didn't care, he thought she was beautiful. Some boys would be freaked out or think she was a weirdo but he didn't. He saw something in her which no one else did, and she was grateful for it. He helped her, he gave her a chance, he gave her compassion and he gave her a home.
