>Alexa's POV<

I didn't have much time to react but to do as told by the voice I heard in my head. It was David's voice which I heard while the wolf stared intently into my eyes with its fierce red glowing ones.

"Jump on my back, Lexi!"

I clambered onto the back of the wolf (hoping it really was David), grasping tufts of it's fur to prevent myself from slipping off while it raced ahead at unfathomable speeds.

I had to almost hug it like a Koala bear to avoid getting hit by branches or any other obstacles as we sped away.

"Lexi, don't worry, it's me David. I am glad nothing happened to you. We were all pretty worried..."

"Where did you guys disappear? Katie and I were waiting for so long for you all to return. But that never happened, and unfortunately she got kidnapped instead. Just as I set out to search for you, some creep started to-"

"I know. I saw."

"Who is he?"

"I'll tell you all about it. Let's get you to a safe place first."

With that he ran in silence, except for the thud his paws made as we moved.

Since I was used to the speed now, I slowly turned my neck and tried to look over my shoulder to see if we were being pursured, but there was no sign of it.
Satisfied that I found atleast one person whose help I could use to find the rest of them, I put my head on his back and closed my eyes.

No sooner than my neck touched his fur, I began to feel a prickly burning sensation over the area.
When I placed my palm over the area I hopes of soothing the discomfort, I realised that it was burning hot, almost like the right side of my neck caught was on fire.

Though the feeling reduced and finally disappeared after a while, I couldn't get over the feeling that it would have left a mark.

Just as I was pondering on what could have happened, I realised that David began to slow his pace and finally came to a halt. I slowly lifted my head and peered through his fur to see what lay ahead of us.

A cave?!

"Where are we?"

"Just get in quick. I'll come in a minute."

I walked inside. Since, it was already nightfall, the cave was pitch black. I slowly made my way, limping a little as the wound on my leg hurt from all the running.
When I took out the pen torch and flashed around, I was glad I didn't touch the walls of the cave. Different species of organisms had made it their abode.
