Chapter 11 - Night Of The Full Moon

Around a hundred people from the cruise ship, including Alexa, her friends, the Symbionts and Michael got down on the shore of less known island, Isle Lunae Lumen. The cruise ship departed from the shore to continue its voyage .

The island had something very unpredictable about it. Everyone could sense it, but only a few knew what it was.

"When is the other ship coming?", Alexa asked. She was pacing back and forth, trying to ignore the chills running down her spine. Her instincts told her to get out of the place immediately.

"Mostly by nightfall....", Victor said doubtfully.

Around them, people were sitting in groups, some taking a stroll along the shore in pairs.

It was getting darker by the minute, the forest behind them looming like an impending doom.

Michael stood up and cleared his throat. He cupped his hands around his mouth and took in a deep breath.

"ALL OF YOU PLEASE GATHER AROUND ME. I HAVE TO YOU WARN YOU ABOUT CERTAIN THINGS."

Immediately, everybody gathered around him. No one wanted to miss out on any warnings and possibly endanger their lives.
They sat together on the sand, paying full attention to him.

"As you all know, we are here waiting for the ship that will take us to our final destination. It is to arrive by nightfall, but can get delayed due to high tide.
Some of you may be aware that tonight is a full moon night. And, we happen to be on Isle Lunae Lumen, which is Latin for 'Moonlight'. This place is home to many vicious predator species, especially wolves. So, it's best to be on guard."

There was a shocked silence, and nervous glances were exchanged in the group. Nobody wished to come face-to-face with a big bad wolf.
Nobody except Alexa, who secretly wished to see Savage.

"I will give you some instructions, incase we are unfortunate enough to encounter a wolf, or worse, a pack of them .
First and foremost, always stay in groups, never wander alone. You can become an easy target otherwise.
Secondly, we need to light a fire. Big bonfires intimidate wolves, who consider it a threat to their lives.
Now, incase you come across a wolf, you have to keep the following things in mind.
Stand your ground and don't make an attempt to run, it will only kick in its predatory instincts.
Don't look scared or fall. This will only encourage the attack.
Do NOT try to stare the wolf down. Wolves regard eye contact as a challenge.
Shout at it as loud as you can.
Don't turn your back on him. Make yourself appear larger by raising your arms above your head.
Back away slowly, but be extra careful not to trip. A fall could encourage the wolf to strike."

Alexa's jaw dropped open. Those were the exact instructions she heard in her head, the day she saw Savage for the first time....
Stacey nudged her and she immediately shut her mouth.

"Also, remember this.
Never try to imitate a wolf's howl. It will only draw them to you.
Now let's disperse into groups with atleast five members and collect materials to build a bonfire. Make it fast, so that we have a nice bright fire before sunset."

With that, the entire crowd scattered into groups and went searching for fallen branches, sticks and dry leaves to build a bonfire.
Michael, David and Victor made their way into the forest, talking seriously.
