The Fairy Fox: Shen Yan and Lu Yin

Chapter 1

"Ge you're looking very pale these days, are you okay?"

"Mmh...I'm okay don't worry, I just have a lot of things to worry about."

"Oh? Like what? Shen Yan?"

The man finally turned to look at the other one. All this time he's been looking at the scenery beneath them from the balcony they are on. Looking depressed he responded,

"There's nothing to think about with regards to him."

"Ge I thought you and him..."

He interrupted whatever the other man was about to say immediately, "xiao Bai there's really nothing between him and me."

'Especially now that the situation is like this' he thought and looked away distantly while subconsciously touching his stomach.

Xiao Bai placed his hand on Lu Yin's shoulder as a form of support and comfort. He knew that even though his brother was not saying it, he was hurting somehow. His brother may try to hide it and pretend that he was not affected but he knew how deep his brother had started caring for Shen Yan.

To be honest the current situation was no one's fault. The other male had found out their true forms and it seemed he could not accept it and thus him and my brother broke up. Their relationship had just started after not so long ago. Lu Bai thought it was a pity for both his brother and Shen Yan because they did genuinely care for each other.

Keeping his hand on his brother's shoulder, he stayed, also looking far away, distant and not seeing anything. He sighed. I thought my brother would finally meet someone who could cheer him up so that he's not so serious all the time after all these thousands of years. Shen Yan really did seem to care for my brother, what a pity that he could not accept a fox as his boyfriend, even a celestial one who can shape shift like us.

I guess it must have been the so-called human fickleness this love he claimed he felt for my brother, even so maybe it's better it ended this way. Except I know my brother very well. He feels deeply, and he loves the other man.

He sighed again.

"Why are you sighing so much? Having problems with Xiao Mo?"

Lu Yin returned to reality after hearing he's younger brother sigh so much as if saddened by something.

"I'm just thinking about the upcoming war that's all." He lied, turning to look at his older brother in the face.

"The upcoming war is very worrying indeed, but not to worry, with me here I'm sure everything will turn out well. Besides, we are preparing well enough and we know who we're up against. As your big brother I won't let anything happen to you." Lu Yin patted his younger brother's shoulder in reassurance. After all, if all else fails he already has a lot of things figured out. He already had his own plans if things don't work out as they hoped. He's not letting his younger brother get so severely injured again like last time. He had to recuperate for a thousand years because of that and he lost his beloved in the last war. This time I want to make sure that that evil side doesn't reincarnate ever again! He squeezed his younger brother's shoulder a little.

"Don't worry this time around you and Xiao Mo will not lose each other, as your older brother I can promise you this much."

Lu Bai turned around with his back to the scenery below, "I know this is probably selfish of me, but your reassurance means a lot to me, even though I'm supposed to be the special one. You've always carried a lot of responsibility and I haven't always made it easy for you, for that I ask brother to forgive me. I know I can be stubborn and headstrong at times which puts you in a difficult situation."

Lu Yin smiled a little and slightly patted his brother's head," As long as you know that then it's good."

"Ge, I wish you could meet someone as well who makes you a little reckless."

"Peh! No way, one rebel in the family is enough. I don't think the Elder can handle two rebels."

Hearing a ding from his phone, Lu Bai took out his phone to check the message that just came in. he smiled and quickly responded typing away with excitement responding to the message.

"Xiao Mo has just texted me, his on his way up." Lu Bai said with a smile on his face.

"Judging by your smile I could've figured that out, he's the only one that's ever made you smile like that." Lu Bai smiled even more broadly hearing this news form his older brother, it sounded like a compliment in his ears.

"You're right ge, he's the only one. Which is why I never want to lose him", frowning a bit in the end.

"And you won't." Lu Yin reassured again. Lu Bai turned to look at his brother and said, "I wish Shen Yan would've accepted you as Xiao Mo did with me."

Patting his shoulder a few times Lu Yin replied to his brother, "Our situations are different, and the people are also different."

Lu Yin said. The atmosphere had changed a bit from the previous teasing mood to the sombre one.

Nodding his head, he agreed with his brother.

"Besides, you really should not take Shen Yan's response to me so hard. We are celestials, we've lived so many years and we will continue to live on. We have an infinite life span so we are wiser and understand that many things should not be taken to heart. In our lives there will be many ripples but all of them will fade away with time and will eventually become a distant memory. Forget it and concentrate on other things, I appreciate your concern and care, but it really isn't necessary."

Even though his brother reassured him so many times he couldn't help but resent Shen Yan a little in his heart. How could he be so biased? He accepted knowing that him Lu Bai was a celestial fox well enough, but why couldn't he do the same for his brother? The man he chased so fervently claiming to love? He really could not understand his friend's logic in this matter.

While stuck in his head a male was walking towards them, coming closer to where they are on the balcony.

"Ge, I didn't know xiao Bai was with you here or else I would've brought you something to eat as well...sorry" Lu Yin smiled reassuringly.

"No big deal. I couldn't take anything down anyway; I'll just leave you guys up here to enjoy the scenery."

He started making his way towards the stairs until he heard, "Ge, you're leaving?"

Lu Yin turned around, "I don't think I want to be privy to your lovey-doveyness. Besides, I have things to do." He turned to leave again until someone asked.

"Lu Yin ge, are you going to go back to the apartment today?"

Lu Yin stiffened a bit but hid it quickly enough that it couldn't be detected. He turned around and forced a cheerful smile.

"No, I won't be. The elder has things to discuss with me, and before you ask, I would've let you know if it was important. See yah!" He left quickly before they could ask him any more questions.

While making his way down the stairs he had a foreboding feeling. He sincerely hoped that whatever was happening wasn't what he thought it was, otherwise, he really didn't know what he will do anymore. He really wasn't feeling well at all, and it was starting to show. He wants to confirm this, and yet at the same time if it's what he thinks it is, he wants to avoid it for as long as possible.

His thoughts kept running wild while he made his way down the stairs.
