The Fairy Fox: Shen Yan and Lu Yin

Chapter 2

"I feel bad bringing lunch only to you, why didn't you tell me you were up here with your brother?"

Xiao Mo looked hard at Lu Bai with a hint of displeasure. To coax him Lu Bai kissed him on the forehead. This surprised Xiao Mo so much that his eyes widened, and he started looking around to see if anyone saw them. Then he playfully pushed Lu Bai away.

"When did you become so shamelessly brave hah?"

"Don't worry there's no one up here except us two, besides, is it a crime to kiss my boyfriend?" He said while leaning forward to Xiao Mo's face with a playful smile on his lips. Xiao Mo took a step back while blushing. Then he quickly turned to face the scenery of the birds flying away.

"Is it me or does Lu Yin ge look...not well? He's paler than usual."

He tried to divert Lu Bai's attention.

Lu Bai also moved closer to the balcony as well.

"You also noticed? He claims to be fine, but I really don't know. I tried to get him to tell me on his own, he refuses to talk about whatever it is that's eating him inside."

He then proceeded to take a sip of the coffee Xiao Mo handed him earlier and a bite of the sandwich as well. It was just like he liked it, a chicken mayo sandwich with white melted cheddar cheese and it was still warm. Feeling grateful to Xiao Mo for getting his favourite sandwich he moved closer and gave him a peck on the cheek, which startled Xiao Mo once again. He was now staring at Lu Bai with a questioning gaze.

"Thanks for the sandwich, it's exactly what I like!" He said beaming at his boyfriend.

"Figuring out your tastes isn't that hard, especially since the only thing you actually like eating and want to eat all the time is chicken." Xiao Mo pointed out unimpressed while rolling his eyes.

A harmonious silence fell while Lu Bai finished his sandwich and Xiao Mo looked at the scenery of people walking towards wherever they were going down there. Most of them were still ignorant of anything resembling celestials, a lot of them thought that all those stories that spoke of Gods, nine tailed foxes, demons and such were all just legends conned by people in ancient times to entertain themselves since they didn't have many things to do back then.

As someone who has always had one foot into such legends, albeit unknowingly, it didn't come as really a surprise when he found out just a week ago that he's boyfriend is one of the creatures in these legends; a nine tailed fox. And he happens to be one of those special ones with a purpose, since then to this day he still doesn't know what the 'special' thing about him is. When they tried to explain, it all felt very celestially so he gave up trying to understand. When he found out about Lu Bai, the whole thing came as a shock to him. He had suspected and had asked Lu Bai numerous times to give him an explanation to no avail. He thought Lu Bai was hiding something important from him, but he didn't know what it was, let alone that once he knew it will change his perception of the world completely. When asked Lu Bai had just kept telling him to trust in him and that he would never do anything to harm him or anyone he cares about. Trusting someone who refused to answer your questions even when confronted directly was hard, he had nearly given up in the end and their relationship would've ended which would have benefitted the evil side that's trying to kill everyone, especially his target; Lu Bai. Finding out the truth was more of a confirmation to him, after all, he always had dreams about Lu Bai. In those dreams he could not see Lu Bai's human face, but he always played with a white fox and every time he woke up from those dreams, he hated it because he could never bare leaving that white fox.

When Lu Bai saved him from nearly getting run over by a car on their first meeting, he could not keep his eyes away from the male. He had never thought of himself that way even though his twin sister; Xiao Rongrong, kept teasing him about his sexuality. That was until he laid eyes on Lu Bai and everything felt right. It wasn't one of those eye-opening moments, it was more like 'he's finally here, what took him so long' moment. He didn't even feel weird about it when things progressed so quickly that they were now living together, all three of them thanks to his sister who saw Lu Bai and started calling him 'sister-in-law' then and there. She went and did everything to put us in the same house, let alone the same room. She even went as far as to offer us her bigger room so we could be more comfortable. Her words, not mine.

It was very weird. To be honest with myself, I was secretly glad she ignored my half attempts to protest to the changes, as if she knew I didn't mean it deep down. And now here we are. It's only been a week since I found out that those dreams, I've always been having were when Lu Bai visited me while he was recuperating, and some were of our past life together. The most recurring dream of his human form I had; in that dream Lu Bai was losing his strength and dying, I had managed to step in front of an attack meant for him on time to prevent his death but as a result I died instead. The blow was so severe that I couldn't reincarnate for a thousand years until now. And now the war is back again, the same demon is back, it seems he wasn't vanquished but sealed instead with severe injuries as well. I don't know how Lu Bai survived in the end, especially since he looked very weak at that time, so weak it's as if he was dead, I also don't know how the bad guy, Lu Cang, was taken care of, the only person who knows is Lu Yin and he refuses to tell us what happened. He refuses to tell us how Lu Cang was defeated and sealed. How Lu Bai survived; and how I managed to reincarnate after all these years. The blow I took should've made it impossible because it was a blow meant to kill a celestial and I've always been an ordinary human.

"Earth to Momo, what are you thinking so hard about? You looked so far away." Shaking himself a bit from all the reminiscing. He turned to look at Lu Bai with a playful smile on his lips.

"I was just thinking about how I used to hate waking up in the morning and jie had to resort to extreme means to wake me up, and of course how I now no longer hate it as much. As a matter of fact, I look forward to it."

Smiling along with him Lu Bai chuckled a bit, "Jie did tell me about some of the things she had to do to wake you up." Xiao Mo playfully punched Lu Bai on the arm.

"Why are you laughing? Isn't it all your fault, trapping me in my dreams and making me not want to wake up? I'm sure if she knew she would give you a smack or two."

"At that time, I wasn't even aware that I was reaching out to you while I was recuperating, besides, jie likes me the most, she would never hit me. Hey, why am I the one shouldering all the blame in this? We could only connect because we both reached out to each other, that's how it works." Lu Bai pointed out in the end with a self-satisfied smile, knowing that during the time when both of them were not consciously aware they were still reaching out to one another.

Xiao Mo didn't refute him and just simply turned to look at his boyfriend, looking at Lu Bai's eyes the atmosphere turned slightly serious.

"I love you Lu Bai." Xiao Mo suddenly blurted out. Lu Bai in return came closer and captured Xiao Mo's lips in a kiss. It wasn't deep and no tongue was involved, both were aware this is not the place to get racy, but tonight is still open. Pulling away they both opened their eyes, Lu Bai quickly pecked Xiao Mo's lips before completely pulling away and straightening himself.

"I wish ge would have what we have, he's going through a lot and suffering alone. I wish he had someone he could share his burdens with like I do you."

"Judging from your words you seem to know what is going on with him?" Xiao Mo inquired curiously.

"It's something you and I can't help him with unfortunately. I don't know how things really are between Shen Yan and him but with regards to the main issue he's facing right now I do have an idea." He took a sip of his cup then turned, frowning a bit when looking at the lukewarm coffee cup on his hand. Xiao Mo also patiently waited for Lu Bai to continue while also taking a sip of his coffee. After a moment of silence with nothing coming from Lu Bai he finally turned and looked at the other male, throwing him an inquiring gaze.

"So? What's going on with him?"

Lu Bai sighed. He really didn't know what to do for his brother. While still looking at his coffee and frowning he finally opened his mouth.

"Ge is pregnant."
