The Fairy Fox: Shen Yan and Lu Yin

Chapter 7

Walking into the apartment it suddenly felt lonely and chilly, he had gotten used to having Lu Yin around. He didn't realise it himself that he had held a bit of hope of finding Lu Yin inside even though he knew the chances were very slim. He made his way to the bathroom, mechanically brushed his teeth, changed into his pyjamas and got inside the blankets. He had a lot to think about tonight.

After leaving the apartment Lu Yin didn't go to the fox cave, he decided to walk around in an attempt to see if he could walk home. He had a lot to think about and equally a lot to sort out.

After he had confirmed the existence of the child he seemed to be carrying he had put the issue on hold and refused to revisit the issue. Under different circumstances he might have considered having this child a blessing, right now though he just felt that calamities really do come in threes. First it was the breakup, and then the discovery of this 'pregnancy', he couldn't think what else could happen to make matters worse however he was well aware that more was coming.

It was very difficult for fairy foxes to conceive and there hadn't been any cubs for the past thousands of years. A lot of the fairy foxes choose to concentrate on their cultivation, conception is very hard and rare. He really couldn't figure out why it had to be him? Which God had he offended to have such bad luck?

Walking under the quiet street with the streetlamps on and the small breeze blowing he felt he was a very tragic character. He kept on walking and thinking with no particular direction in mind.

After a lot of walking and thinking he came to the conclusion that he didn't want his little brother to experience any tragedy at all. He didn't want history to repeat itself, his brother has finally found happiness and he didn't want him to lose it. If they could get rid of Lu Cang once and for all then it would be the best outcome, he is willing to even use his life if necessary. However, he would not hand his life over so easily unless doing so would be their benefit and help them win the fight.

Lu Yin kept walking and thinking the entire night.

2 days later.

Everyone was all packed and ready to go, they were going to use Shen Yan's car. This camping trip was a result of Xiao Mo having won first place on a magic competition where he performed a small trick which was taught by Shen Yan. No one else performed a better trick than him so he won first place and received these camping trip tickets as the winner of the first prize amongst other gifts he had received.

Seeing that everyone was here, they decided to get into the car and start making their way to the campsite. Lu Bai, Xiao Mo and Xiao Rongrong simultaneously got inside the backseat with a tacit understanding. Perhaps Lu Yin and Shen Yan didn't mind not communicating but the tension was getting to them, the people sitting at the back had planned to force these two into the same space. It wasn't too long ago when they used to travel under the same arrangement to the university, granted that the atmosphere was harmonious back then.

Lu Yin was forced to sit in front, he didn't feel he needed to say anything though. The car slowly made its way from the parking spot and got into the road towards their destination. Xiao Rongrong was discussing all the things they planned to do on this trip as if it was a regular trip with no possibility of any danger at all. She and Lu Bai were animatedly talking and pointing outside to the passing trees as soon as they left the residential areas. There was no evidence of any tension in the car at all, everyone was pulled into their conversation and very soon the car was filled with laughter and joking around. they all participated to lighten the atmosphere and make it a happier one.
