Harrison's POV:
"Where is she?" I asked, standing in front of Jenna and Will. They were both sprawled out on their couch watching some movie.

Will looked over at me, "She went on a date."

Lucy's POV:
Mio Amore was an authentic Italian restaurant in the center of downtown Seattle. I had told him we could go somewhere cheaper, but he insisted that we should go here.

I smoothed out the creases on my forest green dress. I paired it with some black, closed toe heels and some gold dangle earrings I bought at H&M a few weeks ago. And I threw my hair in a messy braid.

When I walked into the restaurant I gave them Everett's last name and was shown to a booth in the corner of the large, dimly lit room. Everett hadn't arrived yet and texted me that he got caught up in traffic.

So now I am sitting alone at the table, by myself, hoping he would actually show up.

———

It had been an hour since Everett had arrived and the night was going smoothly. Except the fact that the food was overpriced for tiny portions.

I'm pregnant for heaven's sake!

"Are you sure you don't want anything?" he asked me from across the candle-light table while taking a sip of his red wine. I nodded and looked down at the barely eaten plate of pasta that I can't pronounce. I heard a glass clink to the table, so I looked up.

"Ok," Everett said, "I have had an amazing night getting to know you, but what the hell is wrong?"

I avoided his eyes because I knew if I looked at him straight in the eye I would explode. I felt his eyes burn a hole in my skin as I looked down at the table.

"Just family things," I said, picking up my fork and sliding my food around the plate. My food looked amazing, but as soon as I got a whiff of it I got nauseous.  We both continued to eat, well Everett did I just sat there, in silence. I could tell him that I was pregnant, but I think I had a chance with this one.

He was a good guy, he had a good job, and he had a sweet personality. I didn't want to ruin something that could be so great so soon. There were three options running through my head.

A: Tell him that I am pregnant.
B: Not tell him I am pregnant and let him find out on his own, then he will resent me for not being honest.
C: Do none of the above.

I went with option A, "I'm pregnant." Everett spat out the wine he was drinking and began to cough.

"You're what?" he asked me, wiping the white cloth napkin across his face.

"I am having a baby," I clarified, wincing at what his reaction could be. He looked at me as the realization hit him.

"Well," he said setting the napkin down, "I'm gay." My jaw dropped, "I'm not like fully gay. I think you're hot as shit, but like I think he is hot as shit too," he said pointing to one of the younger waiters. He was right, the guy was hot as shit.

"Ok you could've told me this before the date," I said.

He held his hands up in defense with a smile on his face, "What? I thought we were just putting it all out there." Before I could say anything the waiter came over and set down the book with our check in it. Everett's hand snatched up the book.

"I'll pay," I told him as he read the check, "I barely ate and I don't want you to have to pay for that."

"Don't worry about it," he told me, "You're pregnant so that justifies why you didn't eat. I'm not making you pay for this." He pulled his leather wallet and grabbed his credit card, slipping it into the checking book, handing it back to the waiter.

"Can I at least tip?" I asked him.

He smirked, "Sure. If it makes you happy, milady." I pulled out a ten from my purse and laid it down on the table. We waited for a couple of minutes for the water to come back with Everett's credit card, so we could leave.

"So, who's the baby daddy?" he asked me, "Is it the crazy ex boyfriend?" I shook my head and shushed him. I did not want the entire restaurant to hear my business. He shrugged his shoulder and gulped down the last of his wine.

I wish I could drink.

The waiter handed Everett back his card and walked away. Everett's eye raped him the whole time, and didn't even hide the fact that he was doing it. We both stood up and walked side by side out of the restaurant.

Everett placed his hand on my lower back and directed us out of the restaurant. We walked in silence to my car as the cold air hit my face.

"Thank you," I said when we got my car, "I had a nice time." He shoved his hands into his pocket and nodded.

"Me too! Is this the part where we say we'll do this again knowing that it actually won't happen?" he said, watching me climb into my car.

"Or we can say we're friends and go out to get lunch on Saturday," I told him. I know we didn't click because we spilled out our deepest secrets to each other and that was a turn off.

"That sounds great. Because we both know we are hot messes that don't need a relationship," he said, standing there waiting for me to respond.

"I guess you could put that way," I laughed, "Have a great night, Everett."

He nodded his head and I drove off. I may have not gotten a boyfriend, but I did just get a new friend.
