Arima Kousei POV:
It was still a huge surprise to me that Kaori came with me the next day to meet Uncle Seto Hiroyuki. There was such a long silence first inside the black sedan but after a while, I still find it intolerable that the woman that I love so much had broken into my life. It had been three years that we haven't met each other and it was still surprising for me that she loved me so much that she didn't forget about me. Oh. I remember. She's the one who always say 'Don't hit reset'. She could have always believed that we'll find each other again and she was right about that. She endured those years that I wasn't with them and with the notion as well that I could be dead. Even so, she was very much outraged and surprised that I wasn't the boy she once interacted with. If she really wanted to be my lover, she has to get used to my dangerous life.
"Are you absolutely sure that you want to be 'April'?" I asked Kaori. "You don't know how dangerous my world is, Kaori. I have seen things that may not be very suited to you."
"I want to know what changed you," she said to me. "You only have the face, the talent and—"
I kissed her immediately to stop her from saying anything that wasn't really true. She's just overwhelmed by who I am now and I understand that.
"As much as I want to stay like how I used to be when we were fourteen, I can't do it. My uncle's world is very demanding," I told her. "I can't be the same Kousei that I used to be when we were very young or else my enemies will find my weaknesses and attack me."
"Phoebe was nothing more like a cockroach that you squeezed. She's too weak against you and your uncle as she was immediately apprehended! You easily defeated her!" she said to me. "Aren't you afraid to actually meet a man that's going to challenge you?"
"Don't you think I'm not afraid to meet someone who's going to be the 'Professor Moriarty' in my life?" I asked her. "You definitely aren't Irene Adler, Kaori."
