Chapter 10

Daniel's POV:-
I was feeling pretty confident as I waited for Zach to arrive. I just needed the right way to ask him why he had so suddenly wanted to stop meeting me. The thing that bothered me was my unsual and unexpected betrothal to Princess Pam of which I had just found about the day I had talked to Corbyn and Jack about Zach. That was also the day I had confronted my mother. At the time, I had reluctantly agreed but now I didn't want that at all. All I wanted was Zach and no one could change that. Since day one it had always been Zach. No one else. No one else could take his place.

I was brought out of my thoughts when one of my servants cleared their throats and I looked up to see Zach coming towards me. I smiled as he sat down next to me.

"Hi", he said.

"Hi", I said softly"How are you?".

"Good", he replied."You?".

"I'm okay", I replied sighing."Although I missed you alot".

"Me too", he said sighing.

Aha, I thought. Something was DEFINITELY wrong.

"Hmm", I replied."Then why did you suddenly stop meeting me?".

"It's uh...kinda complicated", he replied rubbing the back of his neck.

"How so?", I asked raising my eyebrow at him.

"Umm..", he said then trailed off.

"Come on Zachy. You can tell me.", I said softly placing a hand on his knee"I can help you".

"III...I can't Dani", he said his voice barely above a whisper.

"Don't you trust me?", I asked.

He sighed.

"I do trust you. But...I can't", he replied."My aunt would kill me".

"She can't do anything to you", I replied suddenly feeling angry and very protective of the younger boy in front of me"Tell me. Did she give you the bruises?"

He nodded slowly. I frowned.

"Why don't you just leave her?", I asked."I mean you're eighteen after all. Turning nineteen soon. You're legally an adult. Not in her custody anymore".

"I know", he said."But I can't because of my younger siblings. Who'll take care of them if I leave?".

"Don't worry. I have a plan", I said a sudden idea popping into my mind.

"What is it?", he asked looking up at me with eyes full of hope.

"You just have to wait and see", I replied.

"Okay", he nodded.

"For now", I said."You have to go back to her. I'm sorry. I can't do anything immediately".

"It's fine", he said."Just let me know your plan soon".

"I will", I replied"As soon as it's in action".

"Okay", he said.

"Good", I answered."Let's go now".

He nodded and we both got up making our way towards Zach's house.

I stopped at a safe distance so no one could see us and hugged him.

"Now remember", I said."No telling her about anything".

"I know", he said."I won't".

And with that he turned around and started walking towards his house. I smiled and headed back to the castle to proceed with the plan.

~A week later~.
The plan had been successful and the papers were ready. As Zach was legally an adult, he could leave his aunt's house and he has been legally stated as his sibling's guardian. Besides Zach's parents hadn't even left Zach's aunt as their guardian and had left Zach as the guardian in their will. So they were definitely coming with him. As a bonus, the three of them would be staying at the castle which was an advantage for me as well as then I could see Zach whenever I wanted.

"You ready?", I asked holding Zach's hand. We were going to his aunt's house to prohibit her false claim over Ryan and Reese.

"Yeah", he answered taking a deep breath and walking towards the car that was going to take us to the house.

We arrived and confronted her. But she wasn't giving up without a fight and asked for a lawyer and told us she would meet us at the court tomorrow.
I saw Zach's disappointed face as he came to escort me out of the house. I put a hand on his shoulder and looked him in the eyes.

"Don't worry Z", I said."I won't let her win".

He simply nodded his head and I saw his eyes fill with hope. He trusted me and I couldn't disappoint the boy I loved with all my heart.
