Infinite Destiny

Part 7: Story of the Past

In the land of the realm, Beauty and Fate are running around the tall grass happily. They always do this since they were young, unafraid of tomorrow. The two girls were even made a promised that if they found they're destiny is not to be immortal. The others will look for the faith of the one destined to be a human in the land of living.

Soon, the green meadows turn into red and Beauty look around to see Fate lying in her own blood as the place burns and land turn to dessert. Yuki wake up from her nightmare, she stand to get water to refresh. As she went to the kitchen her dream still bothers her, she stand there having no idea of what might happen in their land as her communication for them vanish on the day she step to the human world. She think of calling Mirasol but hesitate as it might only bring sadness to her friend whom she knows misses their land so much.

The next morning, Yuki think of working or visiting her friend, soon she choose the latter. As she waits for her to pick her up, she doesn't notice Mark follow the lady and heard their conversation. He is confused of their conversation and decided to know their topic. As he approach, Mark hear Mirasol calling his friend Yuki.

The ladies were surprise for his sudden appearance and can't construct an answered to his question. They stay for a moment there waiting for the others to respond. But soon Mark laugh at the idea and the ladies sigh in relief but was frightened again when Mark enter the car uninvited. The two point each other on who will kick him out until they decide to let the guy inside and send Yuki to her workplace.

Inside, awkward air can feel as both girls has no idea of the guy's personality and for Mark, he still wait for them to open a conversation but it didn't happen until they reach their place. As Yuki been drop off, Mark cling on her making those around surprise and others be envious. Knowing his reputation at work for being a woman magnet Yuki tried to spaces their distance but Mark manage to annoy her. Everyone is surprise by her attitude as no one ever saw the girl increased her voice before.

  Even she shout on him, Mark still stay with her and even eat lunch on her table until Yuki become sick of him and ask about his issue. The guy told her that his question hasn't been answered yet and ask why she used other name, knowing that she suffered from a mild confusion after accident the guy find it weird she changes so much and add to his curiosity is the friend she has and the name it called to her. Yuki still tried to direct their conversation to other topic but failed as Mark continue to pester her.

Before resuming to work, Yuki manage to avoid the guy by running to the toilet. As she finished her business the lady is confused of Mark's attitude as he didn't show their closeness in public. She's having an internal monologue so loud that the mean girls who entered the toilet hear it and ask her the same question. Like they always do, they want to bully her but Yuki is sick of their attitude and just went past them making one of them grab her shirt but her reflexes make it and soon the mean girl found herself lying on the floor and Yuki went out of the room.

The day end and Mirasol pick her up but Mark continue to stick on her side and went inside again, making both lady rolled their eyes. Mirasol ask for his address as she will drive him to his place but Mark didn't answered instead ask them about their relationship, knowing that Maya didn't show his a friend ever since it is hard for Yuki to come up an explanation so Mirasol told him about their story knowing that he will not believed it but to their astonishment he listen to their explanation attentively. He even ask Mirasol a proof of their friendship but instead the lady told him that no proof can be record their long relationship. He told them that half of the story they give is believable and others are not but instead of insisting the explanation Yuki just demand him to believe whatever.

They were just driving in circle since no one knows where Mark lived and Yuki don't want to go back home yet. Then a called from a chairman distract them and immediately went to his place, they were in rush that they tag Mark along making the guy amazed more.

They went to his place and found out that the chairman collapse, Yuki immediately tried to sense on him and sigh a relief to feel no omen. She just told him that taking good care is what he needed in which the chairman agreed. As they went out only the ladies realized that Mark is still with them and were so amazed about nice relationship Mirasol has to the chairman in which she corrected to Yuki. Having no excuse to the continuous pester of him, Yuki show Mark the portrait she collect of herself over the years as it shown in different era. From painting to picture, she mage a frame of it. Mark were smitten by the beauty of her painting and started to believe the story of immortality, the explanation he only thought to be lunatic. But the picture shows a different face so Yuki told him that it was her face before and has no idea how it change. She even give him an explanation of her sudden personality change as if other woman is in front of him. Mark remembered some of the incident that leads him to believed her, he was confused at first but manage to collect his emotion and even joked that Yuki went to the extend for him to believed. But with a firm looked, Yuki told him to stop being friendly to her as she finds it annoying and even decided to quit her current work and join the chairman in his company.

The word "annoying" makes Mark sad and Yuki feel the sudden change of emotion but her words were already delivered and already stab the man's heart. They stay there for a moment until Mark break the tension. He ask her to listen to the story of his own and told that Maya is the only friend he truly has, making it hard to believe since he was surrounded by people but he explain that those people only took advantage of him knowing about his family reputation. He told that Maya is the only one he found different since she didn't take advantage of his name despite the  poverty she has. He even told them that her working in a good company is her own merits and the rumors of him helping is not true. But knowing the personality of his friend, Maya just endure the gossip.

Looking desperate Mark ask where Maya is but Yuki has no answered, in that their conversation ended and Mark decided to leave. But he stop on his track and told Yuki to worry no more has he has no intention of telling her story since he knows that no one will believed him. For something, Yuki feels sad as he look at the guy's appearance until it fade. She has no idea of the feeling she experience after she saw his eyes in tears.

Yuki decided to sleep over to the chairman's place to monitored his situation, that night the chairman awake but instead of waking the maids he just have a little conversation to her. She told him of the emotion she feels toward her words on the guy and how her chest ached when she saw his tears. The chairman tease the guy for being a cry baby saying that it's hard for a man to show their tears in front of a woman and told that making him teared up like that might makes her word sharp enough to stab him. He told her to try socializing and don't shut the opportunity to explore. He even remind Yuki to sometimes bend her rule of life a little and don't focus to much on her goal of setting things in place. She will manage to reach her goal without noticing and instead might feel it less stress as he will do it in a happy way instead of forcing.

The next day, Yuki went to work and saw Mark on the way. She smiled at him but the guy didn't reciprocate and instead act like they were stranger. But it didn't stop the lady to approach him in private and the guy told him of the things she said before and decided not to talk to her.

She surprise him by apologizing and even saying that she will stay in the company with him and wanted to be his friend.
