Dean-26
Sam-22
Meredith-16Dean was dying. He was dying and no doctor could save him. So John did what any parent would do. He saved him.
And now he was going to have to say goodbye to his children.
Sam and Meredith sat in the hospital room, gathered around their brothers bed. They had the brightest of smiles on their faces knowing that their eldest brother was going to be okay. John walked in and smiled proudly. He knew he wasn't the greatest father, but his children turned out alright. He was damn proud.
"Are you sure you feel okay, Dean?" Meredith asked holding Dean's hand.
"You heard the doc, Mer, I'm fine." Dean replied still in disbelief.
Sam smiled and looked up acknowledging their father. "Hey, dad."
"Hey, kids." John breathed, relaxing at the sight of his son up and talking. "Sam, Mer? Why don't you give me a minute with your brother."
They nodded and Meredith squeezed Dean's hand before leaving with Sam. They walked down the hallway towards the vending machine in search of something better than hospital food.
"Do you think dad's okay? He seemed a little.... off." Meredith asked scanning over the snacks.
Sam put a dollar in and nodded. "He seemed okay to me."
He gave Meredith a couple dollars for her snacks and went off to get them coffee. Meredith sat down and took a bite of her Hostess Cupcake.
"Slow down their, Mer." John chuckled at his daughter, taking a seat next to her.
She gulped and smiled. "You want some?" She said referring to the cupcake in her hands.
He shook his head. "No. I've actually got something I wanted to talk to you about."
"What's up, dad?" She said distracted by the sweet in her hand.
"I know I haven't always been the greatest father." He began. She looked up, all attention focused on him. This is new, she thought.
"But I want you to know that I am so proud of you, Meredith. When you born and I held you for the first time, you wrapped your tiny hand around my finger. I was so happy to have a little girl. I see so much of Mary in you and I know she would've been proud to call you her daughter." John smiled tearfully.
Meredith too, had tears in her eyes.
"I know it's not always been easy for you, Mer. But you've always held us together. You've always been the glue that kept us strong. Meredith, I wish I could have been a better father to you, given you a normal life. I should have tried harder." He said.
"Dad, why are saying this?" She said worriedly as John wiped a tear from her face.
"I want you to promise me that no matter how hard it gets that you won't give up. Promise me that you'll keep our family together." John said sadly.
She nodded. "I promise. Daddy you're scaring me." She said tearfully.
He hugged her tightly. "Don't be scared, baby." He kissed her head. "Everything's going to be okay."
He pulled away and held her face in his hands. "I love you so much, Meredith." He smiled.
"I love you too, dad." She said.
"Where's your brother at?" John asked her. She sniffled and pointed towards the end of the hall where Sam had went to get coffee. He kissed her forehead and whispered another 'I love you' before he disappeared.
She took a deep breath and sniffled, wiping away the tears from her eyes.
Something was definitely wrong.~~~
I know this chapter was a BIG SAD but my emotions are all over the place. A good family friend of mine was tested positive for the Coronavirus and I wanted to get my emotions out by writing a sad chapter. I wish we could press restart on 2020 because this year has totally sucked. With time this will pass, we just have to stick together. Xoxo Maddy:)
