The freshly mated omega arrives his pack after the hot night. He is happy and deep in thought, so in the first moment he doesn't notice that something is wrong.
"Jeongguk!" Seokjin's voice calls for him. "Jeongguk!" There it is again, the omega leaves his hut to look for him.
"Hyung, where are you?" Only now does he see what's going on. How could he miss that? Their entire pack is destroyed, dozens of wolf bodies lie on the ground and are obviously no longer alive. "Oh my god, Hyung, where the hell are you?"
Jeongguk knows that it's his alpha step brother who has called for him. "Hyung!" He is about to burst into tears and when he sees his parents nothing can hold him back. "Mom, Min-yeok." He kneels in front of them and strokes the fur. "What happened to you, mom, dad?" Big tears run down his cheeks, he sobs and wants to scream.
"Jeongguk." Seokjin puts a hand on his brother's shoulder. "I'm so glad you're back, we have to get out of here as soon as possible. I'll explain everything along the way.
Jeongguk shakes his head. "No, I won't go without them." The tears don't stop flowing, he can't believe it's all true.
Seokjin tries to stay strong for both of them, but seeing his younger brother like this he can't help but cry either. "We have to go! They will come back soon, I'm sure about that." His voice trembles, he pulls the other into a bone-breaking hug. "I don't want to lose you too."
Jeongguk finally nods, he can't stop looking at their parents, hoping they'll move and it's all just a misunderstanding or a bad dream.
When Seokjin releases the hug and pulls him away from the scene, the omega sees the full extent of the disaster. Most of the huts burned down. Wolves, with whom he has often played or with whom he is close friends, are no longer alive.
How can such a happy day turn into the worst nightmare he has ever known?
Seokjin takes him to the train station with two large bags in hand. When did he even get them? Jeongguk is in a state of shock.
"Go in and we'll talk." The alpha managed to stop crying. It looks like he didn't cry at all.
"Hyung, I can't leave my home." Jeongguk turns instead of entering.
"Why?" The older can't believe his ears, why the hell is he so stubborn?
"My mate, I have to go to him and tell him." Jeongguk bares his neck and Seokjin gasps.
"Shit, I'm so sorry Gguk, but we can't stay here. You might call him later or I don't know either." When he finished, the announcement of the imminent departure of their train echoes through the station. "Get in now, we will find a solution together."
Jeongguk does as ordered, anyway he has no choice but to listen to the alpha when he uses his dominant voice on him.
Both are sitting in a compartment for wolves, which is separated from humans. "Tell me exactly what happened, tell me why I had to find our parents, friends and many more like this." Jeongguk can't wait any longer, he needs answers.
Seokjin takes a deep breath. "Yesterday everything was normal until it wasn't anymore. A bunch of rogues suddenly surprised our pack and attacked without warning. Before we could see what was happening, our mother yelled for us." He rubs his eyes, it seems like he hasn't slept all night.
"When Papa and I got there, it was too late. Those ugly bastards had taken her life. All we could do was avenge her. We tore them to shreds, but unfortunately there were too many. Some of our pack members were able to escape, especially omegas. When we found out we had no chance against the rogues, I ran away too. Not many of us survived, but those who did never came back. I knew you would be home soon, that's why I've been waiting for you." Seokjin hugs his brother again, can't describe how glad he is that Jeongguk wasn't there when it happened. He knows the omega is strong and would have fought for them, but the rogues were simply superior.
"Fuck Hyung, I'm so sorry I wasn't by your side. I don't know how I can ever live with it. I shouldn't have mated him, I should have stayed home." Something changes in Jeongguk at that moment, he partly blames Taehyung for it.
"Bun, no. I'm so glad you weren't there. I don't know what I'd do if I would have lost you too." Seokjin sobs again, the mere thought of it is easier pushing him to his limits.
"Hyung, where are we going?" Jeongguk looks out the window, no longer recognizes his surroundings.
"Seoul, my aunt has an apartment there. We can live in it for as long as we want because she will never use it anyway." The alpha is concerned about the sudden darkness in Jeongguk's eyes. Maybe he needs time to recover, to get back to the happy and fun boy he always was. It wouldn't be normal if he wasn't sad and angry, so Seokjin doesn't think too much about it.
They arrive at the Seoul train station a few hours later. Both are tired because they haven't slept and can't wait to enter their new home.
After another hour both are standing in front of the building. Jeongguk turns to his brother. "Is your aunt rich?"
Seokjin nods. "Yeah, she didn't like your mother so you don't know anything about her."
"Oh I understand." Jeongguk says no more, because now he just wants to rest.
