The next few weeks are eventful. Jeongguk ended the friendship with his friends when Karl asked him to hit a girl. He already knew they weren't a good influence on him, but that was clearly going too far. Seokjin was very pleased and invited the omega to a Korean barbecue, which the younger accepted with great joy. Three days later he made new friends; werewolves.

Then there's Taehyung. Jeongguk was infinitely embarrassed about what had happened between them, but didn't want to show it. As a kind of coping mechanism, he therefore punished his mate with silence and angry looks. Taehyung ignores it, knowing something like this would happen anyway. It's not as if he expected that they would now be the loving couple, no, that would have been too good to be true. He wouldn't have just accepted it anyway, Jeongguk owes him an apology and he'll definitely have to make an effort to get him back.

The students are on their lunch break when Jeongguk enters the canteen and instead of sitting down with his new friends, he walks slowly but purposefully towards Taehyung. When he comes to stand behind the alpha, he takes the beret off his head without warning.

Up until now, Taehyung was able to hide his feral ears, but now they are visible to everyone. People around him start whispering, point fingers and are shocked. It's the first time for the humans among them that they have seen something like this. Wolves aren't allowed to shift in the presence of them.

The wolves are confused, they know perfectly well that this is actually not possible. After turning back, usually no part of the animal appearance is left behind.

Hoseok immediately gets up to tear the beret from Jeongguk's hand and put it back on Taehyung's head. "Are you proud of yourself now? He's your damn mate and you have the nerve to expose him in front of everyone? What's the matter with you, aren't you ashamed? You're a disgrace as a mate, Taehyung deserves someone better than you."

Everyone heard what Hoseok said, the wolves can't believe that the two are mates. How can that be, Jeongguk has no mark.

For Jeongguk, this revelation is far from pleasant. He doesn't answer him, turns around wordlessly and leaves the canteen the same way he came.

Taehyung takes off the beret Hoseok has just put on him and smiles. "I won't need this anymore." He gets up from his chair and sighs. "Thanks Hyung. I had the hope for a second that he would come over to talk, well I should have known better."

"Tae, I don't know what to say. What got into him to do something like this? I just can't understand it." Hoseok notices that Taehyung is putting his things together and nods. "Yes, let's get out of here. How about we go to my house and then play games or watch TV?"

"No, I'll stay here. Don't get me wrong, I would love to go to you and just enjoy the rest of the day, but if I leave now they'll think I'm weak. It was only a matter of time that they find out, I couldn't have hidden it forever. Maybe it's better that way." Taehyung puts a hand on Hoseok's back. "I'm going to swap those wide pants for tight ones tomorrow. Maybe my cousin can help me make a hole in the back so my tail can fit through." He winks at the older and swings his backpack over his shoulder.

Hoseok likes this idea and thinks it's amazing how well his friend handles the situation. "Okay, I can't wait to see you tomorrow."

Both laugh, then leave the canteen together to go to the next lecture. Many pairs of eyes follow them until they are out of sight.

Jeongguk regrets what he did, doesn't know why he did it in the first place. He's determined to apologize to him.

The next morning he gets up extra early to make one more meal so that he can give it to Taehyung during the break. When he arrives at university, he doesn't believe his eyes or ears.

The alpha is in the middle of the university campus, surrounded by students trying to talk to him or to take a picture. It's like he's a star, everyone wants his attention.

"Hey, good morning Gguk." SooYeon greets him warmly. She has a smile on her face when he looks at her.

MinJoon, the eldest of the group of four, stands next to Jeongguk and watches the scene in front of them. "Was that your plan? If so, congratulations, you made him some kind of celebrity." He takes his girlfriend Taeya in his arms and gives her a kiss on the cheek. "They don't realize he's a disgrace. Your mate has a disorder and I'm glad you distanced yourself from him."

His new friends aren't bad, don't bully or beat up others, but their pack only allows strong, perfect wolves around them. Taehyung is not one of those, which is why they are disrespectful to him. That's how they learned it from a young age and don't know it any other way.

Jeongguk is uncomfortable. Taehyung isn't a disgrace, he suspects that he himself is the cause of the disorder. "Yeah, me too." Nonetheless, he doesn't want to look bad in their eyes and doesn't defend him.

Taeya snuggles closer to her boyfriend. "What do you do when you go into heat? Since you're his mate, your wolf won't accept others, am I right?" She can't imagine how it must feel. She and MinJoon have never been apart since both completed the ritual. They have known each other since childhood and knew very early that they were meant for each other.

Jeongguk hesitates for a moment, he doesn't want to tell them that Taehyung recently helped him. "Yeah, my wolf is stubborn. After a while you get used to the pain."

SooYeon nibbles on her lower lip before putting an arm around the omega. "Ggukie, I don't know if it's appropriate to ask you that, but would you help me with my rut? It's next week and I don't feel like looking forever for a suitable omega." It's obvious to everyone except Jeongguk that SooYeon likes him a lot, maybe a little too much.

"Soo, I'm gay. I don't think I can help you, I'm very sorry." Jeongguk doesn't want to lie to her, and he doesn't see any point in it. It seems like it's not completely obvious, after all, he could have been bi.

"I see, that's okay." They can tell that SooYeon is sad about it, but not angry. She's a very pretty young woman and will have no problem finding someone who is willing to help her.

It's time for everyone to attend lectures. Jeongguk doesn't share a class with any of his friends, so they say goodbye at the entrance to the building. "See you later."

When Jeongguk comes home a few hours later, his brother is preparing dinner. He had spent all day studying and avoiding Taehyung. It was exhausting, he had to find an excuse why he couldn't eat with his friends in the canteen. Then after the lectures he waited until most of the students had left the building and then left as well.

"Hyung, I'm home." Jeongguk goes into the kitchen and inhales the delicious smell.

"Hey Ggukie, how was your day?" Seokjin flips the meat, seasoning it a little more.

"Great, but I'm hungry." Jeongguk doesn't want to tell him what happened, is not in the mood to get scolded.

"Make yourself useful, prepare the table so we can start eating right away. I think it'll take another two minutes, I can't wait to hear your side of the story why you did this to Taehyung." Seokjin looks over his shoulder, giving his younger brother a serious look.

Why is Jeongguk not surprised? Of course he found out, Seokjin knows Yoongi and Yoongi knows Taehyung.

"Before you come to the wrong conclusions, Taehyung didn't tell me. Yoongi overheard him while talking to his friend about it. Taehyung didn't know his cousin was there." Seokjin could see on his face that he might have been suspicious of his mate.

Jeongguk just nods and grabs the plates to set the table. It's going to be a long night for him.
