Afternoon...

It's him again.

Rain is standing right at the university gate, looking here and there, jingling the keys inside his pant pocket. Bas doesn't understand why his uncle and pa keep on doing this. What are they thinking? That he's a kindergarten kid that needed to be dropped off and picked up? Bas stopped for a moment at the gate and adjusted the strap if his bag. Then he shook his head and moved forward.

"Hey, Rain!" Bas greeted.

"There you are!" Rain jumped seeing Bas. "I thought you somehow missed me and went home alone."

"It's really hard to miss you, Rain," Bas said casually. The scrawny man with a dark complexion, in odd clothes, is so very unlike any student in the university crowd.

"Huh?" Rain squinted.

"Nothing," Bas grinned and patted Rain's arm. "Shall we?"

"Sure, sure." Rain smiled and started guiding Bas through the mass of students to the place where he had parked Tae's SUV.

They drove in silence but Bas spoke up when Rain took a different turn.

"Aren't we going to the restaurant?" He asked curiously.

"Boss asked me to drop you off home."

"Uncle Kim?"

Rain shook his head.

"Darvid boss asked me to drop you off home." Rain said looking ahead of the road. Bas didn't like the way Rain's lips pressed together as if he's hiding something.

"Why?" Bas asked even if he knew that it would be hard to get an answer from this man. Rain is too loyal to Tae and Kim.

"Dunno boss," Rain shrugged. "Just doing my job here."

"I know you're hiding something." Bas snorted. "And don't call me boss. I'm not your boss." Bas grumbled.

"Sorry, Bas." Rain stopped in front of the Darvid house.

Bas opened the door to get out with a mumble of thank.

"Err... Bas?" Rain called just when he was about to close the door.

"Yes?" The younger man lifted one eyebrow.

"Maybe you should call Darvid boss and ask." Rain said after hesitating for a bit.

"What should I ask pa?" Bas is bemused.

"Just give him a call, okay?" Rain said shifting the gears.

"Rain!" Bas called exasperated. But rain doesn't seem willing to share any more information. So he slammed the door shut and let the dark-skinned man leave.

His mind is a mess when he trudged up to his room sulkily. No one is telling him anything. Why are they treating him like a baby? He is eighteen for fuck's sake!
