"Where are we going?"
"I was leading you to a seat."
"Oh okay."
I let her lead me to a seat.
"Well what do you want to eat?"
"What do you have?"
"I can get you anything you want."
"I'll have tacos, please."
"Okay!"
She closes her eyes for a minute then reopens them.
"Thanks!"
"No problem. It should be here in a minute."
A butler walks in. I nod. He hands the three of us tacos. We eat. She smiles softly. I smile back. She pulls out a detailed sketch of the creature who attacked our village.
"You recognize it?"
I nod.
"He's the demon king... word was that a village was attacked by it... reduced to numbers in single digits."
"The bastard who killed my mom and dad," Drew says weakly. I hug Drew.
"Will you join me in battle to stop him?" She asks. I nod.
"Of course I want my vengeance on him!" Drew shouts.
"Get in line," Paladin Emmanuel says with a determined but disgusted face. We nod. Wait why do we have to get in line?
"Why do we have to get in line?"
"He cursed our—the king," he says after taking a deep breath, "cursed the Queen to be forever small."
I nod. She sighs softly. I look down.
"Br—Paladin Emmanuel... you know I'm used to it."
I sigh.
"Do you mind asking among the allies you have made?"
"I don't mind."
She nods.
"Thank you."
I smile.
"No problem."
She smiles back and says, "I must check on something. Thank you once more for the help you will provide."
"No problem."
She leaves. Me and Drew leave to go ask the others.
"Who do you want to start with?"
"I don't know. Who do you want to start with?"
"I don't know."
"How are we gonna decide?"
He shrugs. I look down.
"Closest one?"
"Okay!" We go to the closest one. Mary is sitting there curled up with a teddy bear awake but not moving.
"Hey do you wanna help us take down the demon king?"
She doesn't answer, doesn't even blink.
"Is she ok?" I ask Drew.
"I don't know."
He shakes her. She bolts up and asks, "what happened?"
"Mary?" I ask.
"What? I'm pretty sure I was dreaming."
"I just asked you something and you weren't answering and you weren't even blinking. We thought something was wrong with you!"
"Yeah..."
"Did you hear my question?"
"No."
"Do you want to help us take down the demon king?"
"I can't fight... but I can heal..."
"Oh."
"I hope that's okay."
"Yeah that's fine."
"Okay!"
We leave to ask the next person. Think we'll see Morgana next. We walk into her room. She is sharpening her sword as her cat tail swishes back and forth.
"Hi! We wanted to ask if you want to us take down the demon king?"
"I know... I'm sharpening my sword for a reason."
"Oh."
"Yeah I already knew."
I nod. We leave to ask the next person. Mariah and Alex. We walk into their room. Scar is casually watching them make out. That's weird... I look at Drew. He coughs.
"We have an important question to ask!"
They both turn.
"Do you all wanna help us take down the demon king?"
Mariah nods.
"Sure," Alex says winking.
"Why are you winking?"
He shrugs. I sigh. Me and Drew go ask the next person. The orc bros...I sigh.
"Do you all want to help take down the demon king?"
They nod. We go ask the next person. Mordor... he is sitting curled up against the bed sadly. Probably still regretting what happened...
"H—Hey do you wanna help us take down the demon king?"
He looks up without an answer.
"A—Are you gonna answer?"
His arm falls to his side revealing self-made injuries. I look down. He blinks.
"What?"
"I—I just asked you a question."
"I spaced out what'd you ask?"
"I asked if you want to help us take down the demon king."
"Sure... sorry."
"It's okay."
We leave. Drew looks back into the room kind of sad.
"Poor thing..."
I nod.
"I wish we could help him..."
"Maybe we should let him stay in our room..."
I nod.
"You thinks it's a good idea?"
"It's up to you."
"I think we should do it."
I nod.
"Hey Mordor."
He perks up.
"Why don't you stay with us for a bit?"
"Okay."
We take him to our room. All that's left is Ryan. We go ask Ryan.
"Sure."
After that we leave his room. We walk back into our room now with Mordor. He looks up cutely but painfully. I sigh. He curls back up on the floor. I look down. Drew makes a hammock and scoops up Mordor. Mordor makes a cute cry.
"Floor isn't comfortable, buddy."
I giggle. Mordor starts to softly cry. Drew rocks the hammock gently. I sigh. Mordor calms down. I sit down.
"Why would he lie to me?" Mordor asks weakly.
