After fussing and fighting with her family, Heidi and the others finally made it to the gala. It ticked her off how she had to threaten them to enjoy themselves. Every day, they were stuck in that dreadful house, and she needed to get away from the woman who birthed them. Axel may have forgiven her, but she couldn't. The witch killed their father, and Axel looked past it. Still, this was something for Adele. Heidi was trying to do something good and understood if Johan wanted to stay home since he lost his wife a little over three months ago, but training day in and out wasn't helping any of them.
It was stressing them. They needed something to make them smile and bring light into their dark world. Therefore, she made sure the event was decorated in silver and white. It was elegant, and it was for a good cause, unlike her other galas. It was time to show the world who Luca's wife really was, and after her supposed death, her nephew donated to the hospital in her name. It was to be used for research, but they used it for another need and built on the building, only to dedicate it to someone else.
The gala was a sure way to make sure they dedicated the money to the child's cancer wing in Adele's name, or they would not receive a thing. People needed to know what she had done since she was forced to leave that part of her life behind her. However, she embraced her new life and became the Donna they never had before. Yet, if Obioma would have become their Donna as she should have been, they would have. She and Adele were alike. Both were ruthless and psycho, like the man they loved.
They were good for their family, and she made sure Germany knew, as she made Luca, Axel, and their women walk into the building as if they owned the place. Photographers greeted them as the reporters asked what made her have a charity for a children's hospital in the States. Heidi's initial reply was supposed to have been out of the goodness of her heart, but that wasn't what left her mouth.
"I wanted the world to know that Adele Sallow is alive and well, living as the wife of the billionaire Luca Köhler." Everything went silent as Luca glared daggers through her head. Her nephew wanted to murder her until every one of the American reporters started talking and asking questions. Instead of giving them a real response, Luca informed them to get the fuck out of their faces while she told them they would release a statement later that week.
"Heidi, what the fuck was that?! Got damnit, woman, you could have warned us you were going to do something like that! You know, give us more time to prepare for the backlash!" Her brother yelled while she shrugged, disappearing into the crowd to make her rounds. Most of Cologne's wealthiest families were there, even though most were somewhat racist.
They believed people should date and marry their own race, and they were the ones there tonight with their noses high in the air. Luca or Kellan didn't make it better when they decided to kiss their wives and rub their butts. However, the event was invitation only, and if they didn't have an invitation, they didn't come in unless their last names were Köhler, Schmitt, Schneider, Weber, or Lehmann. Who were all there except for Victor's adopted parents, the Schneiders, who lived in Berlin.
Nevertheless, they donated as always, but Heidi's focus was on the people who were there as she made her first stop at Claire Becker's table. The woman was one of the wealthiest families second to them, of course, and no relation to Chief Becker as everyone thought. She and her husband had always tried their best to outdo them. Something that started when they were children, and years later, they still tried. Sadly, they always failed.
"Heidi dear, it's been a long time since the last time I saw you. I'm sorry to hear about your son losing his beautiful wife and also sorry to hear about your other son marrying that." She spoke, looking over at Kellan and Nova, disgusted.
Heidi arched a brow, looking back at her son and Nova as Claire continued to talk. Everything faded out. She disrespected her daughter-in-law, which made her mad causing her to question did she forget who she was. Or did she lose all of her common sense? Either way, Heidi promised herself she would behave tonight, so she smiled, nodding.
